New housing estate that is being built on Barnsley Road, Wath. Workmen have smashed the gas main, roads closed off, police and fire on scene. Noise of the gas leak is unreal. Avoid the area completely if you had any plans on coming this way.

A few years ago a farmer who was ploughing near us broke into a mains gas pipe and the chaos it caused was beyond imagination !!
The noise it made was like a military jet about to take off.
The area was isolated and we were advised not to go out. It was on tv for a couple of days.
Apparently the gas pipes had to be switched off all the way back to the Lincolnshire coast .... don't know if this was true.
It's a good job the initial burst wasn't accompanied by a spark or flame. Now that would have been spectacular.
