The problem is the wealthiest not paying the tax they should be. Fix that problem and everything else falls into place.
How do you fix that? You try and tax the rich, they relocate. They're an asset which plenty countries around the world are trying to court.
Well that's the question isn't it. Personally I'd structure it in such a way that if they attempt to relocate and take their money with them it's a lot harder for them to do business in the UK. There are also ways to tax people not living in the UK, America manages it. That's why it's so hard for Americans living in the UK and elsewhere to open bank accounts. The US government are allowed access to them to tax their citizens even if they work abroad. Now that's a bit extreme, especially for people on regular salaries but there are ways.
I get that I don't want cronies nests feathering either, just as a working man I don't want every tom dick and Harry coming here using the services they've never put a bean towards either.
My owd man was a refugee. Couldn’t speak the language, arrived here with nothing. Got exactly the same dog’s abuse as you hear now. He used services he’d never put a bean to. But he got a job, worked hard, raised his family, paid his taxes. Over the years we, his sons, have contributed a mountain range of beans that have paid for services. Think on.
Would your old man have been on a plane to Rwanda? Would Bravermans dad? I'm sure I've got Scandinavian blood in me - why not backtrack all DNA to find out those people who really shouldn't be here? Bet we'd have 3 people left. As long as numbers of immigrants aren't dealt with effectively (see post above about Tories closing systems down) it makes it much easier for people like Farage to make inroads and to articulate peoples' fears. If we can't stop the dinghies (they're not boats) we need better systems to deal with the numbers in cooperation not conflict with our neighbours.
we can stop the boats in an instant. Put every asylum seeker on the ferry and carry out the correct processing once here. It’s really not difficult.
No, he wouldn’t have been sent to Rwanda. He was encouraged to go back to where he came from though. Some did. They were killed. As far as’ Stopping the Boats’ goes, well the clue is there. We’re a bloody island. As Pompey says it should be pretty easy but imagine what the right wing media would make of that... GOVERNMENT LETS FOREIGNER IN TO TAKE YOUR JOBS AND RUIN NHS!
What about people who want to "come over here" work hard, improve their life chances, and pay their taxes?
Thank god you were lucky enough to be born in a country where you get instant access to all of those services, even without putting a bean in.
