Sunak seems to be getting a lot of heat for this. Ex army chiefs, ex naval chiefs, his own veterans minister (who was obviously later sent out to try and row back on his earlier comments). I've seen criticism from all elements of the media and every single political party. And even war veterans. And thats just the first few hours of it breaking. A lot more will follow and I suspect at some point some evidence will break that he wasn't intending to go at all... similar to his COP stances in the past. Sam Coates' (Sky correspondent) asked some very pointy questions and his piece to camera latterly was very critical. I think this has completely finished him off, just in case there was any doubt the tories were in for a hiding. It wouldn't now surprise me if the tories gained so few seats that they were no longer the official opposition.
No it's not it says everything about his and his advisers judgement if he didn't see this blowing up in his face he's not fit to be PM because he can't see the obvious. If he did know it would blow up in his face but came back anyway because he didn't care again he shouldn't be PM. Starmer stayed until the end even Farage did despite Macron and Biden etc being there because they knew it mattered maybe not to everybody but certainly to alot of older people who just happen to make up a big percentage of the Tory parties voters, so you have to call into question his judgement.
It's the message it sends to our allies around the world. He can't make the time or tell his aides to clear his diary is impetuous and weaker than standing next to our NATO allies. A slap in the face to the survivors and veterans and a clear shirking of his national service duties... All while telling teens they need to step up in service.
That'll be the David Cameron that no one voted for standing in for the Cuckoo PM that no one voted for. This is if their doing, they haven't been had, wrong footed or secretly taped. Total lack of judgement from an arrogant, cocky former hedge fund millionaire who acts thoughtlessly first and half apologises afterwards. He's that poor.
He’s having an absolute belting campaign… - launch in pi$$ rain - photo op under an exit sign - biscuit factory tour with planted tories - asked staff at Welsh brewery visit if they were looking forward to euros - lied about labour tax reforms - proposed national service - left early from D-Day memorial to do an interview His advisors must really want him to lose this election
Anyone remember back in 2010 ( I think) when the Red Tops realised that backing Labour was a hiding to nothing and made a very public switch to support Cameron? Wonder if that’s on the cards in the next month.
Nothing was more important than him being there yesterday. During those hours he wasn’t a person campaigning in an election, he was the Prime Minister of Britain representing his country in paying his respects to those who fought and died on D-Day. The King, who’s undergoing cancer treatment, understood the importance of being there to honour them. Also, Sunak’s big policy during this campaign is National Service. How thick does he have to be to duck out of an event celebrating our armed forces?
A report on the radio this morning Said the political parties agreed to a 2 day pause, in respect of D Day celebrations. Yet he buggered off to do an interview with itv. Whether people trust politicians at all. Imo Sunak will use dirty tricks more than any other. He hopefully is seen in that light. From a bbc journo. For days, the leaders' teams for the Conservatives and Labour had been telling me things would be different on Wednesday and Thursday of this week. Politics would take a backseat, the focus would be on the D-Day commemorations.
At the moment, on Wiki there is no prospective Reform candidate listed either. Maybe the details are still to come through?
Could be but apparently there are multiple constituencies without candidates. The candidate for Hemel Hempstead (Tory majority 14,000+) stood down three hours before today's deadline.

By snubbing the event that was held near Omaha Beach where the US lost most of their D-Day victims he was snubbing the USA who might just revoke his Green Card. He might be intelligent but intelligence is not necessarily an indicator of common sense.
