    I mean, he was a good player, but always seemed supremely arrogant and not a leader, who's going to lay it on the line for Cashley Cole? no one.

    He was a world class player in his time. The best in the world in his position for a while, but I cannot think of one player from that generation of England players that have gone on to become a good manager. Rooney, Lampard, Gerrard, Neville etc. have all tried and flopped in management. All top players but have all failed to transition to management.

    No that is a fair point, he came into the side a bit before Cole and that but was still there as that lot joined in.

    He was not in the so called 'golden generation' side though that had Cole, Rooney, Rio, Terry etc. that I was thinking of though.
