Not likely to be cheap in that particular Birdcage Ian... Nightclub/Disco/Battleground/Knocking shop... (I've heard it said... never my experience of course).
Durks, we might have met back then... underage drinking.. Trophy, wonnit? and double diamond? but the start of me drinking problems was the Wharf darn brig at elevenpence int tapoil...
The Waggon and Horses in Sleaford, 1993. Around £1.50 if I remember correctly. And before anyone who knows me points out that the maths are well out, the only ID needed in that place was a bra stuffed with tissue paper or a bumfluff moustache.
You started with a belter, straight in with a top 10 pub. Mine the Telstar in Wath would easily make my bottom 10. Only recently found out the pub was named after an early NASA satellite responsible for synchronising time between the UK and USA. John Smiths don’t remember how much.
A pub called the Staircase in Lidget Green, Bradford. 1981. 45p a pint of Tetley's. I had 4 1/2 pints and chucked up at the traffic lights.
Swan and Talbot, Wetherby 1988. No idea on the cost as I was with my work colleagues and nowhere near old enough to be at the bar myself.
A pint of fosters at the triangle in Wakefield. Can't remember how much it cost but, my god, it was awful. Even though I knew nothing about beer at that stage I knew I couldn't spend my life drinking that dross.
