Elton John has appeared at Lincolnshire Showground which was basically a field and in Lincoln castle grounds in not so recent years. Also not in the same league but we saw the Vamps at Yorkshire Wildlife Park last year again basically a field.
Think the corner stands would need filling in to improve the sound quality.. would also help with match atmosphere
I live in Halifax and the piece hall gigs are top notch, if anyone hasn't been for a gig yet it's absolutely brilliant, in the town centre, 2 mins walk from train station, gigs finish at 10.30pm usually, the capacity is about right, takes 2 mins to get out, wherever you are the view is great, stage goes up end of May and stays until end September. Highly recommended it
And don't turn up late, because the car park closes 30 minutes before the first act takes to the stage.
Wont sell much tickets lets be honest. Maybe a mini festival could work with the above bands & more with lots of local unsigned talent & one main headline act. In other words a proper open day with plenty of stuff for the kids, beer on tap, meet & greet with the players, etc.
Whilst I get the doubters, Huddersfield and Donny have staged big names events without issue. Our ground is a modern 90s stadium apart from the West Stand. Put the stage over the dug-outs etc, then you have all 3 big stands and the pitch. And car-parking capacity at Oakwell is decent, along with good access into town with the new bridge. Not many grounds have the railway station that close either. It’s doable, and I’d love to see it happen. JAQ is the kinda person who would make it happen - and we should back her on it tbf.
Yeah I know lol. Maybe backstage can go under stand into the old boardroom etc I know I didn't think it through properly like
Is he? If he goes to the back of the Ponte End and tells someone to sit down, he'll soon get one I'm sure.
Would the council approve? I ask because Lincoln won’t and the owners gave the fact that they can only use the ground for limited time as a justification to leave to another ground.
Surely it's worth looking into at least? The Keepmoat in Donny has hosted gigs by The Killers, Elton John, Bryan Adams etc. Admittedly they don't have a West Stand equivalent...
I've never understood why it's not used more than it is. Including the car park, which is perfect for a link to town.
I’ve got to say, I couldn’t care what any residents think within reason. The club was there before any current residents moved in, so when you buy that close to a football ground, you accept by the very conduct that you will have issues to deal with. And within reason, an occasional ‘other event’ should be expected in this day and age. Shouldn’t have bought one in that location otherwise.
