I see Jurgen is complaining about the atmosphere at Anfield. He should have been at Oakwell recently. Its the same nearly everywhere due to the emotion draining VAR in the premier league and the stupid and laughable offsides.Handball rules are a joke.Bookings and sending offs are going through the roof when most of them are just everyday tackles. Its getting to the stage where fans are not bothered much about the game just the pre match socialising.

Football is now a more polished product, but far less of a spectacle.

The problems with the atmosphere at Oakwell runs a lot deeper than poor referees and hard to understand football laws.

A poor referee always improves the atmosphere at Oakwell I find

Look at the style of football we play slow and ponderous there’s nothing really to create anything to get behind etc.

He is right though. Not through any intentional act on my part, I've actually watched Liverpool play twice at home in the space of a week. Prior to these two games I've seen matches where you can really hear the crowd for 90 mins, they never stop! However, against Man U and then yesterday against West Ham, it was really quiet. Like watching us. Where you can hear the low rumble of what must be, people chit-chatting, the odd groan and the whimper of a song every now and then.

Let's be reyt though gone are the days English football could rival German or Italian ground atmospheres. Too much "Sit down!" "Stop drinking!" "Oi no swearing!" and general sterilisation of any slightly loose behaviour has killed a lot of it. Also extortionate prices and treating you like criminals before you even step foot in a ground, like police escorts and getting frisked. Can't even spark up a cig at 95% of grounds until half/full time.

Personally, if I'm going to pay an average of £100 in one day to watch a football match, I'd rather not be made to feel like it's visiting time at HMP Wakefield.
