We couldn't replace him. We'd not used all our subs, but we'd used up all our sub windows (three, not including halftime).

Think we'd used the number of times you're eligible to sub up. Luckily it didn't impact the game at all when he went off.

We had already made subs at 3 separate intervals so couldn't make any more.

What annoyed me the most (I was fuming yesterday) was that it was a red card challenge gone unpunished. So we ended up having to play with 10 men because of some "rule" whilst Reading continued to play with 11. Madness

Madness that if you get injured by the opposition, you can't bring a sub on. All you need to do is wait until your opponents have used all their 3 chances to bring on a sub and then take one out so you get to play ten men.

That would just be open for abuse. Pretending to be injured in a tackle, coming together etc.

I totally agree - shocker of a challenge - out of control and two footed take down. (Even worse than the McAtee take out as he scored - and that was bad enough)

No more so than Dreamboy's point above that it gives teams carte blanche to kick people out of the game and cut their opponents' numbers.
It's a stupid and unnecessary rule anyway, brought in to reduce timewasting - which is already taken care of by the addition of lashings of added time.

It was a complete travesty that their lad wasn’t sent up. Really pleased that Watters got the goal though. At least Jalo understands the sort of crosse La our forwards need.

I can't believe nobody is questioning our naivete at not making the requisite number of substitutions.

We made subs on the 21st, 64th and 81st minutes.

I think Collins got the subs pretty much spot on - I've often been critical of his use of subs, certainly how late he makes them, but they certainly worked this time.

TBF, the Styles substitution in first half wasn’t planned and would have influenced it.

The difference though is IF the Officials do their jobs properly the team doing the kicking get punished more.
Teams could have taken the option of taking players out to reduce the numbers since the game first began irrelevant of rules over how many and when as well.

Well.no, because if you take one out you'd go down to 10 too.

Only if the referee does his job properly. Which didn't happen at Reading or Blackpool.

How long has that rule been around, where you can bring sub's on 3 times, and have 5 to choose from.
And btw, I see Yids hasn't exactly reached the top has he after leaving us. And I doubt if he'll stay there for much longer, if they stay in the drop zone.
