REDS TO TRAVEL TO BLACKPOOL IN BRISTOL STREET MOTORS TROPHY Fixture News We'll get the knockout stages under way with a trip to Bloomfield Road. Continue reading on the official site...
Meanwhile we are out of the FA Cup. Great. I was born in Blackpool by accident. I know Tony Green's son, who is an amazing DJ, record shop / label owner & owner of a few bars in Leeds. The place does not really inspire me to return these days.
Lots going off at Blackpool at the moment, so a good time to be playing there to make a day of it. Bit cold though.
Team has already been named for the Blackpool trip... All definitely still registered with us, no need to check whatsoever. Isted Bree Pinnock Solbauer Mawson Trippier Hourihane Brownhill Mowatt Winnall Morris Looking forrard to this one!
With the team I can see us naming I think that’ll be us out the tournament. Just the league to go at then….
And that's what makes this Cup/Trophy such a farce, too many teams are doing this. If we play mostly a reserve team again at Blacky, and lose, it makes the earlier group games and qualifying a complete waste of time. Like when we did it in the knockout round at Port Vale last season.
It’s always disappointing to lose, and I don’t like this competition mainly because of the Prem. U21s inclusion, but one thing this competition provides us with is an opportunity to give fringe/youth players an opportunity to play in the first team. Doesn’t always work as it proved at Bradford but it also provides an opportunity for the coaching staff assess the players at a more competitive level
With being out of other cup competitions and our first team showing little improvement as the months progress, I would play our full strength team because they look like they need the extra minutes together, to hopefully gel more.
I understand all that about the chance for 'reserve' team players, to get some first team match experience. I understand it, but I don't like it!. I'm more old school there, in the fact that I'd like to see us play our first team, every time. And take the Cup competitions more seriously.
