Only way he will stop is by introducing him more into the 1st team and give him a chance to prove himself. Cosgrove and watters aren't doing anything of note so give him a go. Otherwise he may aswell join Everton Fulham or Brighton get paid more and play for there u21s or be loaned out.
I absolutely agree he should be in every matchday aquad now and certainly ahead of Marsh in that respect.
Hope he gets the move he deserves as I don’t trust us to nurture him correctly. But as of now he needs to be getting game time until January at least
It could be a good option to join another side and be loaned back for a season (plus sell-on clauses).
Unfortunately its the position we are in, so put him in the first team squad every week and gradually get the most out of him, at least we could then command a better fee - he will only get better with the experience
We would be better off trying to offer him more chance of 1st team football but tie him down to a longer deal. There's a reason why all these teams keep sniffing round he's a real talent and still only 17
He needs to be in our matchday squad every week now. The injury he limped off with last Friday looked a bad one but not heard anything about it since?
According to Wikipedia, only 24 games - and at least one was in the League Cup (v Rochdale) - so less than that... Looking at it now, he only played 77 times for Everton and hasn't yet made 150 appearances for City. He's 30 next year.
That's league games. add about another 85 in other competitions. For city alone. (234) Played 95 for Everton. Then there's England. 69 games 28 for Barnsley btw. 24 league 2 fa cup and 2 league cup. 426 games in 13 seasons. Average 32 games per season All according to wiki.
He’s played more than you think I’d say. The figures at the top of Wikipedia only show league appearances. The stats further down the page show his full stats. In all comps, 28 games and one goal for us, 95 games and one goal for Everton, and 234 games, 15 goals for city. In total 357 club games working out at just under 30 per completed season, discounting this season which is only just starting for him and 11/12 when he only made a couple of cameos. As he’s been in and out under Pep, I’d argue underused and sometimes undertrusted, that’s not as few as I thought to be honest. Prior to the start of this season he’s averaged 32 appearances per season all comps for City which is actually more than I perceived it to have been, given his periods not being first choice. He’s also played 69 games for England since 2014 and 18 in England age grade teams - so he’s played 444 professional games in total, about 38 per calendar year since his debut, and you’d imagine he has at least 5 or 6 more years in him, especially as he clearly hasn’t been flogged to death over the years. I reckon he’ll finish with career numbers that are about as impressive as his bank balance and his honours list. We ended up getting decent money overall with the sell on when City took him from Everton but Everton didn’t half get a bargain in the first place. I think our boardroom at the time ought to have asked the fans how good the lad was as they didn’t appear to know. Hopefully the same error won’t be made with Jalo; sadly I suspect we won’t see him be a regular for even the half season we saw from Stones but I’d hope for decent recompense. I suppose it depends how long he’s contracted for.
He's currently playing at Coventry for the U21s (and scored a pen just before HT. Marsh scored opener.
