    The UK has given 2.3 billion between 2016-2021 in aid to India and we have never been to the moon, is this were my income tax goes.

    Depends what you mean by "aid". We stopped providing direct financial aid to the Indian government in 2015. Since then our aid has increasingly taken the form of investment intended to benefit both countries, and certainly not what people would call "handouts".
