Be interesting to see which clubs are lining him up and how they will try and justify their decision to get supporters to back them. Odds on him attending a rehabilitation course in order to sign a multi million pound contract?

 

The open letter Richard Arnold has written is a little bizarre. Detail without detail, if that makes sense.

I’m not sure Manchester United would insist he was innocent if they thought he might not be, but whilst saying they’ve had other explanations and more evidence can’t disclose what.

Very curious. There’s clearly a lot to the whole saga we don’t know and likely never will. He couldn’t have realistically stayed at United or even in England - I’m sure he’ll end up back in football somewhere abroad though.

It's entirely possible that he was simply rehearsing for an audition to play a piece of **** violent rapist and she recorded him practicing his lines

 

It is hugely difficult to see any situation in which he would be considered for selection in the future.

Correct decision but if there was no backlash would they have arrived at the same decision? I highly doubt it.

I said the other day that if they do get rid then he’ll go to Saudi Arabia and I still think that.

 

It is also possible that is was not him on the tape. It is also possible that she has a "rape fetish" or it was part of some fantasy play that both were willing participants in. You don't know what goes on behind bedroom doors and it wouldn't be the first couple to enjoy things that most people find dodgy at best - and abhorrent at worst. The club - and the CPS - have had access to more evidence that is not in the public domain and none of us have seen.

If evidence comes forward that he is a violent rapist, then he should spend the rest of his career playing for HMP Scum against Legbreakers Utd. But at this time it hasn't - or at least nothing that the CPS think would convince a jury to find him guilty.

 

What you state would be the only logical justification for what are pretty abhorrent recordings.

Either way, she is a victim. Either of having her sex life unwillingly dragged through the court of public opinion. Or being in a coercive, abusive relationship. My sympathies are with her.

 

Can see how gutted they are in their statement that they are getting shut because of public opinion.

After Monday's announcement, Female Fans Against Greenwood's Return said the club had "done the right thing, for the wrong reasons".

They've certainly done this now to protect their own reputation, and I'm baffled that they thought it would end any other way.

Yeah I agree. Would surely either be a massive oversight or not really caring to think that people would let them and him carry on as normal.

Why? I suggest you stop being ignorant and look into the dynamics of abuse in relationships.

If she were lying or something was misinterpreted, he wouldn't have stayed with her as she would could have literally ruined his career and reputation until it got rectified - but nothing like that has happened. Its just gone quiet.

Abuse victims stay all the time, through fear and coercion. Or perhaps shes just with him for the money as some on here like to suggest.

 

Could just as easily be that she is unwell and he’s a really nice person and recognises she is not well and needs his support.
As unlikely as that seems it is just as viable as your explanation.
