    Pretty sure I read an analysis of Collins' tactics and it said wing backs play as wingers and the centre backs move wide to cover the full back positions with a defensive midfielder dropping in to make a 4. Could be a good season for Cadden, O'Keefe and Cotter

    The ref is very poor, totally one sided with his decisions. We’ve been poor, not sure how we’re 2 nil up, this added time is going to be a pain if you are busy on a Saturday night, might be finished by 6 ish.

    Not an amazing first half but 2 up which is what matters.

    Watters clearly isn't fit and probably shouldn't be starting but that's what happens when you sell one of your starting strikers 2 days before start of season.

    I know he's not been best player on pitch but I think Russell has looked fairly decent. I expected him to be awful based off comments on here and Twitter but he's been steady and produced a few nice touches.

    Like the look of this new keeper in particular. Great save in that first half and kicking isn't bad.

    We've hardly had a pre season got Phillips and connell out it was to be expected. Oh and were missing Norwood.

    On a serious note though like the other poster says watters doesn't look fit I'd get dallas on for him soon if he is fit? Cotter worrys me at times aswell. Shame o keef had to go off.

    Imho ...I'll take it but I have no idea how we are one up never mind two!
    Vale the better team but no finish. We look rusty...I'm sure better will follow, I just think they look sharper.
    All my opinion of course... best players for me...Williams, Styles and Kane.

    We've looked quite disjointed, which is to be expected. Some good individual performances though. Very disappointing that O'Keefe limped off just as our defence was starting to settle. Hope he's not going to be out for long as he looks very decent.

    Lopata looks like he's going to be a proper crowd favourite.

    Jon Russell has looked very good in defensive midfield. Seems to have upped his effort and cut out the daft flicks.

    Glad we're 2-0 up as I can't see us keeping a clean sheet.

    My view from the Ponty, definite own goal. Ref is shockingly biased the first time he should have got a card out for the O' Keefe assault, he didn't. Truly awful officiating.

    Happy with that. Not playing anywhere near good enough. A lot of room for improvement. Obvious we still need a couple of bodies. Still winning 2-0 at half time. I'll definitely take that for the first month of the season.

    Port Vale remind me of old Barnsley.. best team for the first 20.. then go behind.
    Not over impressed but we have done better as the halfs goes on.. Not sure of the formation Watters looks to be right mid and Styles centre forward..
    But first game.. all about the win..
