The next election at this rate will be fought on the colour of the leaders ties as they almost identical on policy.

I can't ******* stand Starmer, but even I wouldn't go that far. The gulf between them is far smaller than I'd like, but even I can see that it's still cavernous.

I think they're aiming to get normal Tory voters onside i.e. people who don't care about helping those who need it the most - also means they give the scum press like the Mail, Express etc minimal ammo. Once they're in power they'll have carte blanche to announce and implement actual normal Labour measures that help normal people.

 

Lazy boring “they’re all the same” cliches. The Tory party for better or worse are now a very, very right wing party - economically - continued fiscal attacks on the poor and the less well off, closure of many children services such as sure start, pushing people into poverty by stopping child benefit after 2 children. Punishing people who can’t work because they’re too ill, record numbers of food banks, children who go to school half dressed and unfed- they have presided over an absolute targeted attack on the poor while lining the pockets of the rich and privileged.
You might not like Starmer because he’s not Corbyn, but he’s the best hope for a fairer deal for the least able to speak up and the most cutdown by years of Tory rule. You can’t afford to indulge your political purity dreams in the face of the reality of getting rid of these criminals, so stop playing games and get them out.
the Labour Party has never been traditionally a far left party, and anytime it’s been hijacked by the far left it’s been kicked into political oblivion.

 

Last politician you could guarantee getting a straight answer to a straight question was Michael Foot.

Until you answer each question honestly and truthfully to the best of your knowledge information and belief, in full, even though it may be troublesome for you, you're an "all the same" politician.

And should be replaced by someone with economic wisdom (any wisdom would help) a backbone a conscience and no discernible ego.

I'm hoping against hope that we get a hung parliament, with the Lib Dems getting enough seats to be able to force a proper PR referendum as a minimum, and possibly even concessions on rejoining the EU. But if that doesn't happen, I'd still pick a Starmer-led Labour government every time over more Tory chaos.

This isn’t about Corbyn it’s about holding Starmer to the pledges he made. Honesty. I voted for him based on those commitments. It’s reasonable for me to expect him to deliver.

 

what other than blind belief makes you think that?

 

Yeah, I think on policy it's been that way for a while (with the standard caveats, like that crazy manifesto which everybody oddly really liked).

I was talking more in terms of general arsholiness. They're definitely getting there, but even taking into accounts the likes of Starmer and Streeting I'd rate them as not quite as bad as late New Labour so far, never mind the post-2010 conservatives. I have no doubt they'll make it with time though, especially once they've been given a sniff of power.

Well if Starmer doesn’t get a majority at the next election, which he won’t , he can’t blame the left as he’s either kicked them out the party or stopped them from applying as candidates

 

Isn't he on course for a landslide majority of about 140 according to the polls? I genuinely hope it doesn't happen, matter how beautiful it would be to see so many of the Tory cnuts squirming as they lose their seats.

I'll be voting Labour as I live in a very marginal seat and our incumbent Tory MP is an utter *****, but it won't be with any great enthusiasm. The Lib Dems are on the right side of many of the issues that are important to me at the moment. I really hope that they pick up a good 50 seats. It would make things very interesting.

 

if labour get in in the next election i'll give it 18 months max before "ginger *****" has the knife between starmers shoulder blades, and to prove i'm not biased if she played her cards right she could throw me around the fettling pen like a dog toy

 

You’re not taking into account that the tories have trashed the economy and funds have dwindled. It’s like promising to buy a new car and then losing your job. With no income, do you still buy the car?
