MICHAEL DUFF REACTS TO WEMBLEY DEFEAT Interviews Our Head Coach gave his reaction to our late defeat at Wembley in the Sky Bet League One Play-Off Final on Monday afternoon. Continue reading on the official site...
And it still wouldn't have stopped some posters insisting Michael Duff is leaving this Summer. Also, I can't believe we have some fans believing Phillips should have been sent off and Gregory didn't foul Kitching for the 'penalty'.
We'll have no problem replacing Duff if he leaves or recruiting new players. We're a different proposition in League 1. We'll be up and around the top six next season with or without Duff, Anderson and Connell. It's different gravy down here.
Hope and expect Duff will stay. Don’t think it was a standup no doubt about it penalty and I do see why Philips was shown red, he’d no control over the tackle. If it had been yellow I doubt var would have made it red. Do my opinions make me a worse fan?
I get your sentiments, and largely agree with them. But..... Haven't we seen how good Duff is this season? Will that have escaped the attention of mid-ranking Championship clubs (at least)? Would we begrudge Mickey for taking better opportunities should they come his way? I hope he stays, but rationally, I'll be surprised. But it won't reflect badly on the bloke. I think Phillips shouldn't have received a red, but hand on heart, I think his challenge gave the ref the opportunity. And do refs like to seize that? You bet. In the Prem, penalties have been given for that sort of challenge on a regular basis. But I have to say they all looked soft to me. Perhaps we'd have done better with a Premier League referee. I think we're all hurting Mr BigLil, but I think we have to be realistic. We go again, especially if we can find a way to keep Mads. Over to Khaled!
Have to disagree with that, especially if we lose all 3. Loads of 'bigger' clubs have struggled to get out of this league, spending season after season down here. It's a very Wednesday-esque attitude to have in my opinion, mate! We should be doing whatever we can to convince them all to stay, primarily Duff.
Conversely I agree. However, I'm playing devil's advocate... I don't think we've ever really struggled at this level barring one abomination in 2002/3.
Well we've never been relegated from this league since the 70s. I thought the foul looked bad at first, and the ref obviously thought the same, without any help at all from Var. His feet were off the ground but all he did was flop on top of him lol. Gregory didn't help either by acting like he'd got an extremely nasty Chinese burn!.
There's one in particular who i'm sure just takes a contrary viewpoint to everything on principle. Every neutral pundit asked agrees its a penalty and no sending off.
Oh yes we will have a problem replacing MD. Beggars belief that that is your opinion after what he's achieved ths season
Managers come and go and at this level they're easier to replace. It's a fact. Ritchie, Heckingbottom and Stendel all achieved promotion.
