Would love for the reds to get back onto the Championship, but I don't think we are ready. I really hope we rip the Trotters a new A Hole but if we fail, so be it. Up as Champions next season. So, no real disappointment IF we don't make the final, we need to build & build properly.
Who's going to fund another year in league one without being able to sell Woodrow, Morris, Brittain and helik?
Get what you’re saying to a certain extent but if we don’t go up we’re likely to lose Connell and Mads, not to mention Duff too. In an ideal world we’d keep them and add a couple of strikers but we all know that won’t happen.
I know what you mean but we should be doing absolutely anything & everything to get promoted this season. We sold 4 first teamers start of season, also Styles out on loan, got rid of some of Iseka & Oulare's wages and still the board pumped in over 5/6 million in total. Can't keep doing that. I suspect at Connell & Andersen will have clubs interested at end of this season, so they'll bring in some profit, but also means we'd have to spend to get anywhere near that quality back (unless we're very lucky and get a couple of Connell's on a free, very unlikely...). So if we're not promoted, we'll need more money pumped into club, and we'll have potentially lost our 2 best players. Always better to get promoted as soon as possible when you don't have money.
I fundamentally disagree with the notion that it’s EVER bad to get promoted. It simply isn’t. I remember some folk not bothered whether we won the Championship play offs 2 years ago! The mind boggles. We’re never going to be able to build for long as if we get a good manager or player they don’t stay long. Get promoted as and when you have enough good players/a manager to!
Agree with other posters, always better to be promoted too soon than not at all. Particularly with the finances as they are in football. We're still paying for the poor decisions of Conway's era and that'll be easier to resolve with Championship income. Thus we'll be more able to strengthen the squad a level higher. Plus, let's get back to the big attendances and thrashing Leeds at Oakwell.
The 7 or 8 million quid we get from going up helps a bit. We can't afford to stay in league one we just cant
I agree but 7/8 million may help but its a drop in Ocean. We need a serious backer. Sensible but serious.
Ohh ffs, here we go again with the idea that "It's ok if we don't go up this season, let's go up next season instead". How do we know that will happen, depending on whether Duff will even stay with us for a start. I say that if the chance of promotion is there, we must take it!!.
Every club wants that. Wont happen though, when board are already pumping in millions to keep us afloat
Okay, no, YOU didn’t say that, but it appeared to be that you were indifferent to it. A more accurate post would have been as another said where people say it’s better to be more prepared or stronger or whatever. Just go up when you can. I just get frustrated hearing this all the time, pretending it’s ‘okay’ if you lose in the play offs.
Actually, it wasn't a freebie, being there tonight, it was as intense as anything I have witnessed. Think I was just protecting mi sen Chuff me wiv got Wednesday in a final at Wembley, c'mon Sheff, bring it on.
