The bookies have us as odds on favourites in the early betting to take all 3 points on good Friday, when we make our 5th ever trip to the Pirelli Stadium. The Brewers had an abysmal start to the season, which saw Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink dismissed, despite being linked with the reds hot seat in the summer. The form of Victor Adeboyejo propelled them off the foot of the table pre new year, and despite losing him to Bolton, Burton have managed to pull away from the relegation zone. They currently reside in 18th, 7 points clear of Accrington with a game in hand. At home, despite only having the 18th best record in the league, their heavy defeat to Peterborough on the 14th March ended a 4 game unbeaten run a home. Burton do appear to have addressed their defensive frailties somewhat since the turn of the year, particularly at home. Albeit some of that is down to Jasper Moon's arrival, someone they'll obviously be without on Friday. At the Pirelli, we've won 1, drawn 2 and lost 1. Our victory came courtesy of goals from Lloyd Isgrove, Brad Potts, Joe Williams and Harvey Barnes in a 4-2 win. Our overall record vs Burton reads won 3, drawn 5 lost 2. So historically, the points are often shared when we meet. Our run is now 1 defeat in 14 (including 11 victories) and 1 in 7 away from home. Despite Burton's upturn in form, they do appear to struggle with the stronger sides in the league, not beating any of the current top 7 in the league this season. With that in mind, and their tendency to be involved in high scoring games, I'm going for a 1-3 Barnsley win, with Cole, Phillips and Norwood amongst the goals.
It's usually 0-0 innit? I'll go for a no-score draw. I'm yet to be convinced by our recent away performances.
With Adeboyajo gone to Bolton and Jasper Moon ineligible, I can't see Burton putting up much resistance if we play like we did in the games against the Wendys and Dorby so 3-0 to the Reds for me - provided we don't fail to show up like at Exeter....
need to massively raise our standards from our last away game, if we're to come away with 3 points. I think they will, after the jolt they got against Exeter. I'll go for a narrow 2-1 win
3-0 us. Their capacity says 6912, with a record attendance of 6746 v Derby in 2016. If we've both sold out, maybe we'll beat that?
