As some have said only a few weeks ago we were many points behind Derby and Bolton, with games in hand granted, but whilst Derby have faffed and fannied around we've siezed the chance to overtake them both. Now eleven points clear of them. I bet neither Derby or Bolton could have expected that to happen.
I think Bolton will be pleasantly surprised to still be in the play offs mix, they'd played about 4 games more than everyone else, haven't played for a month and they're still in it. They'll either come back fresh after whats been like a mid season break for them or they'll have forgotten who each other are and Peterboro and Wycombe/Pompy will nick the other 2 places. Be interesting to see how this Pizza cup trophy goes for them today.
They fell apart after losing to us. Looks like we’ve broken Wednesday too..? Ipswich were clever to avoid us & get more points in t’bag first..
Pompey are still well in with a shout, which surprised me somewhat. Even their own fans seem to think they're pretty gash, Bishop aside.
Wycombe are not out of it either... If they beat Ipswich on Friday they could go top six, depending on other results.
Another team that has gambled alot on senior players on big wages at league 1 level. Loach Chester Davies Stearman Forsyth Hourihane Smith Barkhuizen Mendez-Laing Collins McGoldrick all 30+ apart from Barkhuizen who turns 30 in the summer.
I thought Portsmouth were done when we beat them, but they look like a dangerous team with a nothing to lose attitude right now. Peterbrough and Wycombe are both in better form than Derby, and Bolton are under pressure as well despite today's win at Wembley. And surely Shrewsbury are out of it.
Its in 2 blocks now. The top 4 will all finish in the top 4 its just the order thats in question. I am thinking Automatic is looking like Ipswich and one other most likely not Wednesday As for the 5th and 6th its 2 from 5 but I think Derby and Wycombe will miss out and I think Bolton will hang on - Pompey or Peterborough for the last spot
Could make the final game of us v Posh Massive! I can just see the Peterborough fans seeing this game as retribution for their relegation after our amicable draw at Huddersfield….
