End of season play offs for what? Surely if we finish top then that’s that, or is there promotion involved?
The Northern division winners play the Southern division winners for the national title. As it stands, we'll face Charlton.
There are 2 groups. A and B. 10 in each ( North and south in the main) Each play the teams in the group twice. And the other group once. 28 games in total. Barnsley top group A at the mo and are pretty much nailed on to finish top. 3 games to play 15 points clear of Sheffield United who have 8 games to play. In 2nd place. Charlton and Millwall look to be fighting the title. In group B. And our last Home game is against Charlton. May do Millwall a favour. On Newsbot. it says we have qualified for the plays offs. I assume that may mean top 2 from each group qualify. I know Bruce Dyer speaks very highly of this group of players - seems to think we have some special players on our books
I would have thought the same. But newsbot reports we've reached the play offs which suggest it's not just a final between the 2 group winners. we've certainly not won the group as yet. But can't finish lower than 2nd. Our U18s thrashed Ipswich Town 7-2 on Friday afternoon to secure a place in the Professional Development League end of season play-offs.
It’s actually the top 2 from each that go to a semi final. Winner of North zone hosts 2nd place in south, and winner of southern zone hosts 2nd place in the north. Winners move on to the final. There is no promotion. The clubs involved are all ‘category 2’ whereas the “big clubs” with the biggest investment and (theoretically) the best facilities are ‘category 1’. You earn this status off the field, rather than on it.
