Save our season before we run out of steam going into a key month Yours faithfully, the average Sheffield Wednesday fan
Well I thought this was going to be an over the top piss take of Wednesday fans but judging by the match day thread it's a piss take of our own fickle fans
I think people are allowed to be a bit frustrated and have a moan - it’s what happens when things don’t go your way. Do you not think Man City fans get pissed off and have a bit of a moan every now and again when they have a bad game? Amazing results against the top teams in the division mean very little if you can’t then press on against mid-table opposition with nothing to play for. I think a lot of fans were genuinely starting to believe that autos were possible, and now it’s looking far less likely.
It may have been commented on already, but... I have just read Michael Duff's post match summary of the Exeter defeat. This guy is a gem! He does not make excuses, go 'over the top' or blame individuals. What he does is to make a calm analytic statements which 99 times out of 100 align with the views of the majority of knowledgeable fans who were at the matches. Obviously there will be times when he may slip up tactically but he is young for a manager and is still learning his craft. But he is still, in terms of man management and team selections already better than many of the older established managers in the league and will only get better with experience. Any criticism of performance stays behind closed doors and clearly given how certain individuals have made marked progress in attitudes/work rate , not to mention skillset, he has earned their respect. At all costs, BFC need to make every effort to retain this man, regardless of whether or not, we are promoted this season, as he is surely has a bright future. His style of play suggests he believes in a results driven sport it IS possible to be entertaining and win.
