Having watched the highlights about 20 times , the build up to our 4th goal involved 2 obvious fouls , the ref could easily have blown up, but thankfully let the game flow. And we all know what happened next.
Only thing he got wrong was not going back and booking either of them. Booked us for much less by comparison.
Some doubt about the one on Watters (barged into his back) but the one on Tedic was a nailed on yellow for me. However. both could be regarded as "professional" fouls as there was no genuine attempt to play the ball but rather simply to stop the player.
Famewo got booked in the 97th minute. https://www.flashscore.co.uk/match/x6HgMcQ1/#/match-summary/match-summary
No doubt at all about the one on Watters in my mind. A tackle from behind is a yellow card, so a barge into the back, when he's already passed the ball is a definite yellow. You'd even get a yellow card for that in Rugby League.
I don't think I've ever seen a referee pull out a straight red for a professional foul. It doesn't matter where it is on the pitch either. I'd love to see someone get a straight red for a trip or a shirt pull. It would soon stop them doing it.
Unless it was denying a clear goal scoring opportunity. There’s plenty of scope there for “interpretation”….
