I would've thought we'd have sold out for this one, I assume we haven't given no messages stating as such (although as has been said this will be due to Beth being away) but at the same time I can't see there being many left from 1,200 to be available on the day

 

I’d imagine we’ll have sold 900 or so. Seems to be a hard core number. Cheltenham was a few more as it was a new ground for many.

 

Thought after selling out similar numbers for Cheltenham and that great result against Derby in the meantime, that we would sell out again.

 

Me too. I don't think it's a reflection of our support though - I suspect it's just too much money in too short a time having been to Portsmouth, Oxford, Exeter (postponed) and Cheltenham all in the last few weeks. Doesn't matter how well your team is doing, if you can't afford it you can't go.

 

It's a helluva trip to Bristol. Anywhere near 1000 is a very good turnout. I won't be there, as I'm DJing in Leeds tomorrow night. Should be watching though, as I've just time before getting my kit together for the gig...

 

Bristol Rovers will be a new ground for a lot too. We sold our allocation there on our last visit with it being the last game of the season, and it's over 30 years since the visit before that.

If we just consider the form we're in and the fact it's a Saturday game, that's pretty poor. On the other hand, as highlighted, cost of living and the sheer number of away games recently (and to come) and its not that surprising.

I'll be there for my first visit, just hope we fare better than we normally do in Bristol

Anyone know roughly what time official coaches will arrive? They're setting off at 8am and i can't imagine it'll take 6 hours even with stop-offs (3 hour journey by car).

 

3 hours?? Around 188 miles so you'd have to average over 60mph... Used to be easy in a car but these days with traffic hold ups, road works, contraflows 5omph zones with average speed cameras you are lucky to manage 50mph averages in UK on long journeys daytime. In a coach you are looking at 4 hours plus I would think, not including the usual stop off at services en route.

 

I frequently travel up to South Yorkshire (Poggy) from South Bristol (the Mem is in North Bristol) and it never takes me more than 3 hours unless there's an accident. It's all motorway: m1, m42, m5, m4. Easily average over 60 miles per hour. Sometimes i do it in 2 hours 45 mins, and I'm no boy racer or your standard crazy Italiano gas guzzler. By coach and with a 30 minute stop, setting off at 8am, you would imagine 1pm would be more than achievable as an ETA. Meeting the mother beforehand so hoping we get to spend more than an hour together. We'll see.

Have to admit that my only experiences of distance driving in UK over the past 10 years or so have been either Dover to S.Yorkshire, or Stansted to S.Yorkshire (apart from some shortish M62 runs to/from Hull Ferry terminal). Stansted and particularly Dover in daytime have always resulted in hold-ups and longer than anticipated journey times. Clearly the traffic densities would appear to be less down the West side North to South.

 

I've done the Folkestone run a few times (from the west) and just that run on the M25/M23 slows you right down, although m4 to London from Bristol is a breeze (2 hours). I'm not too familiar with coming from north to south east, not for a long time. But i guess you'd be taking in the A1 for Stanstead so you would likely slow down as a result.

It's a breeze from Bristol to Barnsley since they did up the M1. There is a 50 mph stretch on the m5 but nothing major. I think of it in 3 one-hour blocks (roughly) when i drive up to Yorkshire: an hour to m42 turn off, an hour to m1, and an hour home (junction 37).

(As an aside, the worst place for driving in the UK for me has to be Birmingham. One big ring road, and a hatful of maniacs!).
