Wouldn't think so. The new man just has to keep everything the same as it's working. They cannot lose players until the summer and would be stupid to change anything like their tactics.
Losing their best player doesn't appear to have affected them, so I'm not convinced just yet that they'll capitulate. We saw it ourselves when Lee Johnson left and Hecky took over. If you've got a good side, you can just go from strength to strength.
I certainly don't see it can be anything but a negative for them. He's been at Wycombe so long, moulded their style and personality, been almost the bedrock for them. I wouldn't expect them to collapse but I reckon this will present them a problem or two short term. Long term it may well be a huge blow.
https://www.wwfc.com/news/2023/february/21/matt-bloomfield-to-become-new-wycombe-manager/ 500+ games for them over 18 years. Reminds me of the times on the BBS when people want legendary players back even though they haven't done anything of note in coaching or management.
Massive loss for them, he’s definitely out performed their budget, a rare thing. They’ll be mid-table by April.
Probably only 1 for me. Macca. And he wouldn't come anyway given what he's said in the past. Warnock I've championed when struggling.
Ainsworth leaving cannot possibly be a positive thing for Wycombe. He's been such an inspirational character in their set-up. They are very unlikely to do any better without him. For our sake, I hope they do worse, of course.
A big loss to their league position but a massive boost for their supporters who have had to endure years of the worst football I've ever seen
Win, win for us. We just to need stay focused on our job, but Wycombe were the only team I really feared in the chasing pack.
New manager has done well at Colchester and may give them continuity having worked under Ainsworth. Could be a shrewd appointment
To be fair, I initially thought this too. He's done okay, but he wasn't great at start of his tenure there, and it wasn't until they had a very good transfer window when he started doing well. I wouldn't be too inspired if I were a Wycombe fan at the minute, as it's definitely more down to his connection to the club as a player than his managerial talents imo
We never played football as bad as Wycombe have played it. The hooftball stuff people like to throw at Val is a myth, we played some fantastic stuff at times
Aye, hopefully after our next few games, it'll be other clubs worrying whether Wycombe will catch them or not bud!
