No mention of "Scarf Day" Its a brilliant idea by Athersley Reds but needs publicising as much as possible. I think a flat cap day for the final home match would also go down well.
Credit to both clubs. I've very little positive to say about Derby but they're one of only a very small number of clubs to agree to our reciprocal £20 maximum pricing offer.
With about 5000 visiting fans expected, it benefits their supporters more than ours, so it's no wonder they took it up.
I suspect it means it benefits more of their supporters than ours, as most of ours are already ST holders.
What Fired said. Benefits more of their supporters rather than individual ones. Also, I don't know how many of our fans got £20 tickets at pride Park, but nowhere near 5k. At the end of the day, this will have cost BFC more potential revenue than Derby.
As an individual Barnsley supporter it looks as if I might have actually done slightly better than a Derby supporter out of this but because of the agreement between the two clubs both of us are winners. And surely which club has lost more potential revenue depends how much the respective undiscounted tickets would have been priced at? For example, last season we were charged £28 at Derby and they were charged £25 here. Given that there was nothing to stop us taking a full allocation at Derby this season other than our own apathy, 3,145 at £20 versus £28 is actually a slightly higher potential 'loss' for Derby than 4,993 at £20 rather than £25 for us. Anyway I'm not sure what the counter-argument being made is to the central point which is credit to both clubs, they could have stuck to their normal prices and both made more in theory. (And there is another massive club not too far away that will soon swamp Oakwell with 50 million times more supporters than we took to S6 and they didn't take up the offer!)
One other thing I've noticed on the Derby ticket site is that they are offering a dedicated singing area for away fans at Oakwell - "The dedicated ‘Singing Block’ for this fixture is Block NS4, Rows T to VV." Is that something we could look to do?
Just pointing out mate this is why i queried. benefits supporters more. Which it doesn't in my view. rather than more supporters benefit. Irrespective of how many attend. The loss or increase of potential revenue applies to all clubs that participated in reciprocal pricing. Also I got talking to a former employee of BFC only a couple of weeks ago. Re administration costs on another point re match tickets. The away club. did at that time get 5% of ticket sales. I dont know if that rule applies now. Barnsley fc knew the costs and potential loss of revenue. And joined or created this scheme for the benefit of all fans of all clubs in league 1 that participated. Including Derby. Dont forget Derby will have lost lots of potential revenue due to charging home fans the same as away fans. How many would pay the extra £6 shall we say. rather than more fans attending is questionable. (Given the league position at present) Happy days for the fans. In my view. As for how many fans went to Derby. We were newly relegated. So that would have affected our turnout. Given if the fixtures were reversed. and league positions as now. we may have taken nearly as many as they are bringing. Sheffield Wednesday fans must be fuming with Chansiri. Ipswich another. Given the travel costs of their supporters you'd have thought they'd have joined the scheme. Another case of not understanding, or not caring, more than likely, the outlay of travelling fans
I really like the idea of flat cap day, does that include free entry and free biscuits for their whippets and ferrets ?. And remember the 'plant pot on his head' thing, that was our fans song and I really hoped the club could have tapped into that at the time, with merchandise etc.
I’ll be interested to see if the derby fans sit or stand during the game, and if they do stand, if anything will be done. I ask because at the ‘evening with’ last week, Khaled made a very clear point that standing in the Ponty wasn’t allowed, and that we’d get hammered by SAG if we tolerated it. My personal view on that, based on looking at so many games on TV where the whole away support stand through the entire game, is that SAG largely do fk all about fans standing.
