Do you mean the best player for his performance at Oakwell? Or the best player you have happened to see play at Oakwell?
I know this will sound daft but remember Jack Payne when he was at Southend destroying us March 2016 they won 2-0 and he scored
For best player, Bale would be in with a shout. But I'll never forget seeing Devaney tear him a new one when he was a 17 year old left back to such an extent that he was subbed off at half time!
Gareth Bale. Massive hype around him beforehand, was fascinated to see what he had to offer. He offered everything... to Disco, who ripped him a new one and had him subbed at half time. Perfect for us! Honestly though in recent memory (which is all the memory I have), Jude Bellingham for Birmingham looked every bit the player he's become. Sensational.
That's why I posted his name. Can't believe no footage of that goal has survived. The greatest goal I've ever seen. It's the only time I've known the whole of Oakwell stand and applaud any goal. A special moment for me at 16 just starting watching us regularly.
Soon as I read the title of this, I thought Prosinecki. I love the obscure ones who aren't big names but had exceptional games against us, like Eastwood and Payne. Temuri Ketsbaia springs to mind as another. He had a standing ovation from home fans I remember. Robbie Blake had his fair share of superb games on a few occassions.
