The only positive from a super league is all the money as it is now would disappear from the English game over time. The danger of course is how many clubs would go under as people pull out.
Just a minute …. Isn’t this the same organisation virtue signalling every opportunity for green, renewable, climate change propoganda … yet wants to fly teams across Europe on a regular basis to play a game of football? No hypocracy here guys (just profit) …. Carry on!
There's little wonder why big European teams want one. When clubs in our relegation spots can spend 100s of millions every season, even elite clubs cant compete.
Chelsea FC spent €329mn in the January transfer window, more than all the top-tier clubs in Italy, Spain, France and Germany combined. https://www.ft.com/content/33fa64d2-8dfb-48a1-8176-efe1e9724112
How much do you get for finishing 17th in the Premier League compared to getting promoted from the Championship?
£117m for 17th, Championship winner gets £100k but of course they would then qualify for PL money. Apparently we got £7k.
I hope it doesn't happen. I'm vaguely interested in the Premier League & the Championship. The latter should be our home, but we have no divine right. (We are I think still the team with the most seasons in the second flight?) If it does go ahead I think it is unlikely to affect "teams like Barnsley" that much. I feel that looking at lower division & non league attendances, that things are pretty healthy. Too high wages & speculation are the worst features of the Premier League. Championship & even League 1. This could be an "out" for Citeh, which might put a lot of Premier League clubs against it methinks. They'd all like them to sink like a stone. They probably deserve it TBH. They have given us about £10 million on the Stones sell on. Hope no comeback on that one...
