Did he get enough germs to catch pneumonia? He certainly fell in love again to Angie Dickinson and then Carole Bayer Sagar. RIP on of the best musical wordsmiths of all time.
He didn’t actually write a lot of the lyrics. Hal David mostly took care of that. Burt was the melody man
A giant in the music industry. Sad to see another name from my growing up years gone but he had a good, long life.
Responsible, along with Herb Alpert, and with a little help from Dusty Springfield, for the best James Bond soundtrack album, Casino Royale (the David Niven/Peter Sellers/Woody Allen one, not the Daniel Craig one). It’s one of my favourite albums full stop. Apart from the bits when Woody Allen is onscreen, the soundtrack is just about the only good thing about the film. And it features one of Dusty’s (and Burt’s) very best songs, The Look of Love.
Spoiler for my radio show on 19th February. My selected tribute, could be so many, but shows the diversity. Could have been the Stranglers doing "Walk On By", but to my mind this is a bit more of a curveball & a great track.
