Currently stuck. Was down to 1 lane but looks like they may have just closed it after J39. Find alternative route if you can.
Would explain why Wakefield Road was choc-a-block and all roads around Wakefield are very busy. A usual 35 minute journey to work has taken 55.
Aye was trying to get to Wakey Westgate but missed two trains stuck in traffic, so chalked it off and turned round. Was queuing back to J37 when I came back.
last Tues i was heading to work for my afternoon shift. i got on at junction 41 heading south to get off at junction 37. What normally is a 20 minute journey took 1hour 40 due to a 3 lorry collision between junctions 39 an 40. Smart motorway my aris.
Don't know whats going on at the minute, seems to be bad crash every day on the M1/M62. I heard from someone who works in Harrogate - took them 3 hours to get from Jnc 37 last Tuesday morning - fk that!!
Stopped using M1/M62 to get to work at Normanton over a year ago now. It just got crazy, there was an issue almost daily. I still go home that way but it doesn't seem as bad at half 4 ish.
You obviously don’t know the suffering I go through, it’s a nightmare getting the tanker thru at rush hour
Yep. I'm surprised there aren't more motorway pile-ups. I drive my son up and down the motorway 2-3 times a week between Wakey and Sheffield now his Mum has moved house, it's the first time in my life that I go on a motorway on regular occasions. There's an issue in one direction or the other at least half the trips I make and I'm only on the motorway 20 minutes. I find it staggering that no exaggeration, 99% of drivers are right up the backside of the vehicle in front. Like probably less than a quarter of the recommended gap left in front, sometimes less. I've seen small cars about 2 metres behind huge HGVs, I mean honestly it's madness and drives me mad (no pun intended). It doesn't get you any anywhere any quicker, it's just plan stupidity and bad habits. I wish people would start getting pulled/fined for it as it's incredibly dangerous. Every time I do hear about a pile up, it doesn't surprise me at all.
Ahh that's my taarn, good old Normy. The Manc lorry drivers who come here are always complaining that the M62 is fu***d again or words to that effect lol.
What gets me now is people pulling out to overtake. No one waits for a suitable gap any more, they just indicate and go for it. Hate motorway driving these days.
