Anyone signed up to take part in this? I've been for my blood taken and my tests done. A bit strange thinking that bloody could be frozen for decades before a researcher uses it to test medical theories for generations to come.

It's open to anyone over 18 I believe if you want to get involved.

I'm much more interested at this stage as to who is behind it.

Alarm bells straight away with the repeated "in partnership" with the NHS and other charities etc.

Any whiff of company profits then I'm out

In fact... Reading this on its opening page.... Pretty much rules me out. As I've already refused my data being shared to private companies.

Beyond that, in their "how are we funded" page. They have already received 179 million in funding.

I'm more convinced day after day, that the repeated Tory mantra of the NHS receiving record funding, that more and more of it is being funnelled via them into private pockets. Sort of a money laundering on a grand public scale.

I trust nothing about the Tories when it comes to the NHS.

Had mine done. Can't see any big issue with it TBH.

Same, can't find anywhere local to Wakefield for the blood sample though, saying L**ds is nearest.

I don't have any issue with it - at the end of the day the NHS can't really fund a multi-year health study of millions of people and nor should it. If this leads to better outcomes for my children and a better understanding of disease markers and early signs then I'm more than happy to do my bit.

I went to the one in the St John's Centre. Was very well run & had NHS nurses doing the tests. Only took about 20 minutes.

I do understand the scepticism but the way I see it is a) it's backed by organisations such as Cancer Research UK who I trust and b) of course there is money to be made by clever people who discover things, but if me doing this helps save one life in the future it's an amazing thing to be a part of.

Each to their own and all that but overall I thought it was worth joining.

The lady that did mine in Leeds today said she normally works at the mobile unit in Wakefield so maybe keep trying for Wakefield dates?
