I'm talking about league games not some paint competition for League 1, 2 and Under 21 teams.

The biggest beneficiary of his loan to us was Marcus Rashford. I recall reading that Fletcher was ahead of him in the pecking order when he came to us, and then an injury crisis gave Rashford his big break and he never looked back.

We didn't play in a competition that had any under 21 teams in it.

Not sure why you are ruling out his goals against 3rd and 4th in the table either but each to their own.

Factually he scored 8 in 30 games against league one opposition for us.

    Is he?

Honestly think I'd rather have Cole and Norwood.

Back then, I'd have picked him over Ivan Toney.

I’d rather get Dele Alli on loan.

Based on the fact he about 10 times better than any current forward we have. When your only forward is Cole you can’t be choosy.

Goalscoring record 44 goals in 110 starts

He was brilliant for us in league one. He looked the complete striker. Please no one try & rewrite history & pretend he wasn’t just because he hasn’t been successful since leaving us.

Would I have him back? If he’s cheap enough yes. If you can get him in on wages similar to what you’d pay for a Tedic or Martin then yes I’d give him a chance. If you’re talking big wages I’d look elsewhere.

Harsh that. There were no under 21 teams in it when we won it & he only joined us when we were already in the semi finals when every team were playing full strength sides.

You make it sound like he got goals like Jalo & Martin’s at Donny.

Exactly, and look at Ivan now, yer never know, nobody knows whats going to happen, but we aint got him, were not going to get him, so its all If's, and Butt's.

Like I said the fact he's better than our current forwards isn't much of a compliment. We have Norwood aswell don't forget.

Its a pathetic situation we're in though!.
Suggesting strikers who might not be good enough... but having to admit that they would still probably be better than who we currently have up front.

True but he's scored 21 goals in 128 games since leaving us. Change the Barnsley spell with any other club and I'm sure we would be underwhelmed if we were linked.

Norwood struggles to start regularly. He has been a reliable forward at this level but he’s not reliable any more. That’s not to say he won’t play well sometimes but he will struggle to start and score regularly. Time catches up with all of us.
