A few days with an old mate who’s got a converted barn up there miles away from anywhere. Up to Sea Palling to see the seals on the beach. Hundreds of 'em, the bairns with their fur laying on their backs watching us. Along single track lanes to pubs with log fires and proper ale. Walking boarded up seafronts with wind whipping up the sand, shut down amusements and just the creaking of a sign. Over the crumbling runways of old WW2 airfields with the sheep and the swans. Then back to Phil’s to sit by the fire with some ale talking ballax.

And the best bit? Not looking at the news or social media. Got back to find some ginger haired bloke got hit by his brother. Couldn’t give a toss.

It’s a beautiful area - we go for a week or two every year to the caravan club site near Potter Heigham - loads of seals at Horsey. Last year, we came across Sea Palling for the 1st time - what a lovely little “resort”!
