We are supporting Dry January which is disappointing. Our hospitality industry has had a shocking couple of years. Pubs are shutting all the time, putting thousands out of work. As the saying goes, use it or lose it. We need to support the pub trade that are struggling more than ever before with energy bills. I feel for landlords this month especially with Dry January annual campaign.
No Kids Zone again. Two home games for the lad over Christmas and not a thing for him to do. In his own words today: - Boy - "I don't want to go to the football today Daddy" Me - "oh, why not'? Boy - "It's boring. There's nothing to do" His exact words.
I support the pub industry for 11 months a year, and drank my own bodyweight in ale over Christmas. Way too much in fact. I'm now supporting my liver. 100% supportive of Dry January.
All we keep hearing is that the club wants to improve off the field. The sad reality is that they have no desire to improve at anything off the field. It's beyond embarrassing.
On the plus side you can get yourself on the pitch, even grace it, which seems odd considering the events that unfolded on Thursday.
I’ll still be visiting pubs. There’s a few that do nice meals and I always have alcohol free fruity ciders that actually costs more than the alcohol version. Alcohol ruins people’s lives, if pubs haven’t got some decent low/alcohol free stuff in with all the options out there now then that’s on them. Young ‘uns don’t really drink anymore so pubs are going to have to adapt to stay relevant.
That's true pubs will have to adapt. Most people go to a pub though to drink alcohol. If you want a meal and something non alcoholic most would pop to somewhere like a Cafe.
Nah, cafes tend to only sell sandwiches/paninis and maybe a sausage roll with hot drinks or pop (the ones I’ve seen anyway). It’s not the same thing at all. Also, there’s a mixture of drinkers and not drinkers among my friends so pubs cater to both.
Genuine question.. Am i right in thinking, before the Athletic sponsorship.. a can of the stuff was about 4 or 5 quid in the ground? Now we're selling it for a quid with all profit going to whoever. Basically it seems a proper rip off at normal prices and i cant see why anyone would buy it at full price moving forward.
We charge £1.50 for a packet of Polos and £2 for water, so common sense has always been at short supply. £2.60 for a bottle of pop that was nowhere near that last season.
Last time I bought it in the ground before today no one knew how much it cost anyway and I got it for the price of a coke. Alcohol free beer is usually the same price as a beer as they have to brew it in the same way and then remove the alcohol at the end of the process.
While that does make perfect sense (including the bit about staff not knowing the prices) it just seems odd that weve said we'll sell it at a quid and donate profits.. why not leave it at normal price to maximise the donation and not make the "normal" price seem so high.
