...to be added to the lockdown charge sheet. Record alcohol deaths from pandemic drinking - BBC News It's just poor people though eh? Not to worry. Stay safe.
This stupid government will never apologise for making the incredibly bad decision of shutting pubs. Instead of pub staff telling people to leave as they have had enough to drink, you had supermarkets having the monopoly on booze sales where people could drink more than normal at home. Shutting pubs is responsible in part for more things than just alcohol deaths too. Things like an increase in mental health issues because people rely on pubs as a community hub to help feel less lonely. It ruined it for businesses in the supply chain like delivery drivers, food suppliers, taxi drivers etc. Hospitality hasn't recovered from people getting out of the habit of visiting and I don't think it ever will.
My drinking definitely accelerated during the first lockdown - it spurred me on to quit for good because in the end I was damaging my health.
My mood accentuates my drinking. When I'm on the level. I rarely touch a drop. When I'm low or high then boom. I've mentioned it before but when I'm level it doesn't appeal to me. However, I do find myself looking for excuses to have a tipple. It's been a pretty dry World Cup for me though. Normally I'd have a drink if the Dog and Duck were playing the Anglers. Sometimes I use highs as an excuse to get blasted. I always regret it afterwards and I've found myself (like you did) getting up early to get rid of the cans off the kitchen worktop.
Yes, it’s a mind altering depressant at the end of the day, probably not the most popular opinion on here but they need to start treating it like smoking - a public health issue, quite apart from the direct deaths there several different cancers associated with drinking, and the pressure on the nhs and other services as a consequences of binge drinking is there for all to see - just go to A&E on a Friday night.
I agree these people aren't what you'd call an alcoholic. Far from it. However, they have a problem with excess. That's why I try and abstain from drinking now. Even something as simple as eating my tea with Laura on an evening because I can't drink on a full stomach.
