Terrible performance from a number of players last night. Still I cannot believe I actually heard Martins name be called for man of match. I think kitching is more of a threat going on a run wi ball rather than a trusted defender. Really hoping Williams is fit and ready to go and quicker Thomas is fit the better! Is it January yet

McCarthy out for the season but you pose a very difficult question William's back if fit , Kane and Benson too alike so Connell even though he wasn't great at Bolton and Phillip's is hopeless. Aitchison for Martin as at least he will about but it does feel like rearranging the deck chairs on the titanic let's hope Duff has the answers

When we are going to have most of the ball we need to change formation.

    I would change to 4 -3 -3

    Collins

    Williams Cundy Anderson Cadden/Larkeche

    Benson Kane Connell

    Aitchison

    Norwood Cole

I would rather have 5 on the bench than Martin and Philips on it.

I would have Butterfill on it though, and Larkeche.

Actually I’m just flying back from Tenerife now and I notice things have been pretty abysmal during my absence. So, just to help out, although I’m 58, I’ll bring my boots and take that Centre Mid role on Saturday. Hth.

Larkeche took one of the worst corners I’ve seen last night in the last minute , it was like the kid at school who can’t kick took it , a shocker

I don't think Cadden was outstanding, but I don't think he was horrendous, or even half as bad as some of the others the other night - he was mediocre. And he could quite easily have had 2 assists if someone got on the end of 2 great crosses, he should have had an assist week before too, and we should have had extra points if Norwood could direct his header properly. He definitely needs to improve his defensive position though - but there's a reason he scored & assisted loads before he joined. We just need to capitalise when the chances arrive. I agree with majority on here, just try another formation. Nothing to lose at this point.

McCarthy has done his ACL and is out for the season, and Jalo is well hyped but isn’t physically equipped for league one yet at only 16, he’s not ready to start league games yet. He needs little cameos in games we’ve already won maybe.

Not really sure what you saw in Tom Edwards that suggested he should stay in the team, in any position, yet drop Cadden. Kitching at wing back would be entertaining again, though not necessarily in a good way.

That said, I’m struggling to pick a best XI. Any team would have to include players I don’t want in the team as there aren’t enough good ones.

Yes I agree with you on Edwards. Would maybe have to put kitching at back and Cadden wing back. I start Jalo just for the fact Norwood is way past his best and is towing his bag art so may bring him on to see if he can have more of an impact. Clutching I know

I agree that in games where we want to impose ourselves on the opposition, we need to be going 4 at the back. Our back 5 just aren't good enough to make attacking contributions in that system.

Your lineup tries to address that and I wouldn't be averse to giving it a go, but I'd personally like to see us go 4-4-2 vs Forest Green. I think Cadden could be useful wide left, but we don't have an obvious option to play wide right. So whoever I try there would be a makeshift. I'd go:

    Collins

    Williams, Cundy, Andersen, Larkeche

    Aitchison, Kane, Connell, Cadden

    Cole, Norwood

If there were any other options at all to replace Cundy or Norwood I'd probably try them, but there aren't so it's about creating a system that gets more out of the players we have.

Not thrilled with my own selection but we’re pretty threadbare so what do you do?? There’s 3 or 4 in my team I could happily leave out but short of bringing in kids (which we won’t, and shouldn’t do) we’re stuck with them I’m afraid.

I agree norwood is way past his best Hemsworth got it right with his views when we signed him. But just worrys me starting a 16 year old too much i think thats what did RNL too much too soon hindered his development.
