A “happy clapper” here. I think there is a big difference between knowing things and believing. I know there has been a lot of mismanagement that we can do nothing about now. I believe that the instant answer of anyone throwing a shedload of money at a “quick” solution will ultimately break us. As Churton says it’s going to take patience and time to fix this mess and it looks like many people are now prepared to wait for it to happen.
I didn't mean it to come across that way - it was just a summing up of where I am. I also understand that some folk are a little more patient than I am.
The only thing I would take issue with in this post is the title. You point out the mistakes made by the board and in many cases their basic ineptitude and there have been many examples of that, but “rotten to the core” signifies something much worse and the people who make up the board are not that. They have taken on a very difficult situation and tried to keep us solvent. They’ve appointed a head coach who I for one have confidence in and I think that Adam Philip’s could be the signing of the season. Norwood is the striker we needed and in time he will come good. None of this denies the points you have made, but I’ve followed Barnsley for many years and believe me when I tell you that this is not the worst situation we have been in. I predict a top half finish.
They haven't taken anything on. They've been our owners for 4 years and in some cases nearly 20. If they didn't bother to do any research at all into the other investors before buying large shares in a new company set up solely to buy this club then that is all on them and their incompetence. But then the hex mess has already showed us they dont exactly do thorough checks before signing business deals.
I'm very much in the wait and see the camp. The only difference for me is I'm waiting and seeing without paying in anymore. I appreciate that may not help the but I'm just tired of it and want to actually be tempted to buy a season ticket rather than doing it out of duty. I also have the unpopular opinion that the club has been run poorly for last 2 decades.
No I am saying the manager would play the same tactics and formation as he has done in his career rather than adapt to the players. You'll soon see. Duff knew 100% the situation when he joined but he has had the same level of backing as the last 2 or 3 managers really. But you can't complain about selling players when we have a 7 or 8 million pound deficit to fill to balance the books somewhat. I just don't see Duff improving the offering on pitch with his style. Most fans don't mind losing with effort and fight and some direction. When we have been beaten, the leadership hasn't been there. It is obvious how we set up to play and stop us with his one dimensionable style. Wycombe being the obvious example of a team going through us like butter having worked us out completely. Notice as well somenof our previous managers traits on display still. Every match we have played with Collins in goal, the opposition have been looking for him off his line for cheeky pop at goal, we are so obvious. I'm giving Duff a chance but so far he has an E- for me. As a Barnsley fan I sincerely hope he proves me wrong and starts to display some flexibility and mix things up to make us hard to beat. But there's nowt wrong in being critical even at this stage of the season he shouldn't be immune to it. Collins, Williams, Anderson, Wolfe, Benson, Kitching, Moon all have recent championship experience, other players like Norwood and Kane with Lg1 experience, yet some claim this manager doesn't have the tools for the job when realistically even before adding the new signings he has more to work with than most other teams in Lg1 including Wycombe who mullered us.
There's not even any point travelling for me. The club can't even get anything right. We can't even cobble 11 players together to give Wycombe or Lincoln a game.
Originally when I saw the styles deal I was flabbergasted. I didnt realise at first the full extent of the deal though, and now I'm thinking it could be a shrewd bit of business, frees his wages for now, keeps him happy, and im confident we will get more from the release clause than we would have right now
The core is the heart. The heart isn't rotten. The heart is the supporters and the good people behind the scenes. While we have that the club is never rotten to the core.
I stopped reading when you said he has had the same backing as the past 2 managers.... load of ********
