It makes me wanna puke. The fans were used to losing because the team was a bag of w@nk. I read it as our nervousness was partly to blame. Load of tripe.
I think you’re reading far too much into what MD has said. Where there that many occasions for the the crowd to be nervous about during last season? Despondent perhaps or even suicidal but not nervous.
Spot on. Maybe the fans don't get on the players backs because the expectancy is low. Maybe we're just decent fans?
I really like everything MD says about rebuilding trust, because that was exactly what has been missing over the past twelve months, or more. The old regime treated players like commodities to be traded. What does that do for their sense of being valued as human beings in the first place and footballers in the second? We shouldn't underestimate the value which folk like Norman Rimmington added to the club, because he was one of those who got alongside some pretty disaffected players and put them on the right track again. What MD says is about man management and that is what we have missed. Best example of how that can transform a player was in the performance of Luke Thomas on Saturday. His thirst to play and to win is back. Where did it go? Lost in a system which didn't fit him and a club ethos which just would have disposed of him if he didn't fit in. It's basic man management which we have been missing. Valued the players as people. Rebuild the concept of team across the whole club, including supporters, and we will become a team with a winning mentality again. COYR.
Ooooh rah. I like a good club post. I'm looking forward to the Middlesbrough game on Tuesday. It's good to win a game as it gets the juices flowing. It would be nice going into the Derby game with a bit of confidence.
