Crypto currency, despite appearing complicated, isn't at the basic level. It has value because it is limited. Leaves, as an example (and with a nod to H2G) aren't much use as a currency as there's millions of them. Run out of leaves and you can just pick a load off the nearest tree. So they're worthless. Gold on the other hand is rare so it retains value. Crypto currencies are limited. They won't, for example, keep on mining new bitcoin forever. It is already set how many there will ever be. That's why it can retain value and be used as currency. That doesn't appear to be the case with HEX. It's like virtual leaves.
To be fair a lot of people have lost thousands/millions on the stock market & have done for years , not sure why there is a problem ,although I do understand for many people everything has to be whiter than white & that is not a criticism its just has I see it .
To be fair, the stock market usually has companies of substance underpinning it. Having said that, my pension pot has certainly taken a hammering recently...
I got 4 pages into this before I realised his surname wasn't "Head". God job I'm off to SpecSavers tomorrow...!
I think you can general accept the commercial world we live in while picking your way through what is it is not acceptable to put on a football shirt. Easiest thing is to say there is no moral stance - so you would in theory take money off Gazprom, for example, but I guess most Barnsley fans would not be comfortable advertising them. So, then we are saying there is a line - and it’s legitimate to talk about any sponsor we get and which side of that line they are.
I’m not going to defend late stage capitalism but with the stock market at least at its most basic it can reflect the economic performance of a company. You can go look at a balance sheet or P&L and make your own mind up about it. But on another level it is similar in that philosophical speaking a company only exists in reality in the minds of the collective human imagination. You can’t go and visit and see Microsoft like you can go and see Mount Fuji for example. So there is the reporting of the economics of the entity we know as Microsoft but then there is a huge thing called sentiment or good will or whatever else which has a large influence on the stock price. With these crypto markets, that’s all you’ve got - a sentiment on what it’s worth and if people decide it’s not worth anything then it isn’t, based on nothing other then that- a belief.
So has helik left for 2millon euros? Not a dig i just think anyone who is constantly knocking a club or a service they contribute little or nothing to needs to take a look at themselves. I have been critical of conway lee and the whole consortium but going crazy over a transfer and fee that hasnt happened and critisising a sponser who the club are obviously taking all they have on the table, or we could just go all season with nothing on our shirt and no chance of income whatsoever. I just dispair reading this board sometimes.
Just glad I've already got the shirt without the sponsor printed on. I won't be rushing to have it put on.
Crypto.com sponsors F1, will be a World Cup Partner, has deals in place with the Staples Centre, the Australian Football League, UFC, and loads of other sports. Not sure how relevant that is to this deal but it's interesting none the less.
I have always thought sponsorship was just really Companies writing off tax. Sponsorship is classed as advertising So presume it can be written off ? Maybe people who know better @accountants on here can chime in ? i find it difficult that some of the these companies who sponsor sports etc Can make it back through personal individual methods . would doubt companies like INEOS etc have anything to offer a individual person/spectator
A lot of crypto altcoin stuff is so far removed from the underlying utility that's it's basically just confidence speculation and nothing more.
I take it the deal with Raytheon fell through last minute then .. jokes aside real fans will invariably lose money based on this sponsor. Hopefully not too much they can’t afford. Interesting to see all the “real people”tm responding to the tweet. Wonder how many of them will be responding to all our social media stuff through the season. Thirstier than that lass you went to high school with that wants to give you the opportunity to get in on the ground level starting your own business selling aloe Vera products. I know folk are saying it doesn’t matter and to anyone extent it doesn’t but it certainly shows the calibre of people our club wants to be associated with.
Any currency investment is "speculation", which is pretty much the same. No issue with the sponsorship, as long as we get paid.
I’m going to buy a tenners worth and when it’s worth 100k I’ll dig up this thread and laugh at you all.
