He will get 20 plus for them this year ! Although he was a high earner I was disappointed that we let him go .
Yet when he was backing out of challenges, ducking under the ball and scoring f all for us last season people were claiming it's because he wasn't playing in the right position
20+? Wanna bet? (not including part time friendlies btw.) he's never scored more than 14 in a league season, and i imagine that includes pens.
The level of opposition isn’t quite the same is it - can’t believe that would need to be pointed out.
good luck to him. hope he does well. needless to say, a pre-season friendly is no benchmark whatsoever, for how he might fare in the championship. he will know that as well as anyone.
Whilst I think you're probably right, I reckon he's got a damn sight more chance of getting 20+ for Luton next year than he did playing for Barnsley last year. Something to do with football being a team game and playing to your strengths. I'd definitely bet on him getting well into double figures, which in a side with the prospects of Barnsley or Luton is a more than respectable output.
As a star striker I'm sure Luton fans will expect him to get well in to double figures like most Barnsley fans used to do.
Luton i saw last season were very direct if they can get Woodrow feeding off the knock downs who knows. Definitely has more chance there then with us last season though plus he only played 28 games due to injuries last season.
Assume you mean never got more than 14 in championship. He got 16 in promotion season with Stendel (19 all comps) and would have easily broke 20 that season had it not been for injury that kept him out at the start. I do agree that he won't get 20 at Luton though. I'd say he'll probably get 12/15 ish maybe, especially if he's on pens
Who was the last striker we signed in the Championship who we thought was fairly likely to score 12-15 goals a season? Let alone on a free transfer! Macken?
I’d be tempted to say he doesn’t get 20 Championship goals for Luton ever. Not because I don’t rate him. I think he’s a really talented and clever footballer, but he isn’t a regular goal scorer anymore at Championship level (in my opinion).
We could mention S. Winnall who twice scored more league goals in a season than C. Woodrow. 21 for us in one season. League 1 it was. A good question is: who was the better striker,at their best for us (ignore the fluff) ? I would not split them. Best goal was Winnall's header down at Cardiff. That was world cup final class.
