The Eavis family should apologise for such a rubbish three days. The heyday of Glastonbury being the best festival is long gone. It has been awful for so long.
They have gone to VAR, and the ref has given a controversial penalty to Diana Ross. And ohh no thats a shame, aww shes missed it again.
I think they got his mic wrong. I couldn't hear him to start with if I'm being honest. Just got emotional at the whole Beatles thing.
See it's not just the artists but I don't think an eighty year old way past his prime should be headlining. Billie Elish hasn't earned getting to headline a night and was likely only given the chance so they break a record with youngest ever female headliner. Kendrick Lemar another with a back catalogue not big enough to justify a headline spot. I don't think dance/rnb/rap should be part of Glastonbury. It should be how it was for many years in the prime where bands performed rock, indie or britpop. I don't like 'messages' being given to crowds either so Zelensky and Greta giving speeches and Lily Allen and Olivia Rodrigo mentioning the stupid abortion case during a duet didn't need to be said. The prime years of the 1990s are long gone.
Been a few times, last time in 2016. Kasabian headlined on the Sunday, thought to myself, that's as good as it gets, in the short term anyway. Most indie bands lack longevity so no back catalogue, don't mind r and b, seen dizee rascal and Skepta on pyramid but, and it's all a matter of taste, after an hour starts sounding samey. They do try and mix it up a bit but this year's line up seemed lacking in the mid ranking acts you'd see on the smaller stages. Only real one I'd have liked, and not seen before, would have been Jarvis Cocker
I like the mixed genres of it, mainly because I have a diverse taste in music. I love Kendrick and he deserves a headliner bill, he's one of the biggest rappers in the world.
I have a diverse taste in music but I would just prefer Glastonbury to be more rock/indie based like it used to be. Like not being a fan of Kendrick, Stormzy etc performing there, I wouldn't want Arctic Monkeys at the MOBOs award ceremony or Noel Gallagher at Creamfields.
Jeez kid. A festival that started before you were born, whose whole purpose is it’s political messaging, Greenpeace and CND, latterly water aid etc. The 90’s might have been the high spot for ‘reach’ but to believe Glastonbury is about ‘Brit pop’ is like believing quality food is about ‘gourmet burgers’. and I’m really not a fan of dance /rap/ grime etc but I appreciate that it’s me that’s not keeping up rather than music moved ‘wrong’. If you want to see Glasto as it should be done Skunk Anansie we’re on yesterday afternoon and the full set is on Iplayer - turn it on, turn it up.
McCartney and Ross might be struggling according to what I've read on here but I can tell you this much Barry Manilow sounded well last night and for 79 years old put many to shame...held his notes well ...on most songs ...yes a couple he waivered on ....but no dubbing over of voices ....put some of the young uns these days to shame in my opinion
MOBO stands for 'Music Of Black Origin' so Arctic Monkeys would be a very bizarre choice for those particular awards. It's not really the same thing.
What he said Billie Eilish fully worth her headline in my opinion having nailed it as a support last time she was there Just watching her set now on iplayer and she seems to be doing a pretty decent job As for Dreamboys comment about a silly us case words fail
There are 5 big stages so something for everyone. If people don't like rap, watch one of the other Glasto channels. Pet Shop Boys on BBC4 just put on a superb set as an example.
As a lifelong Beatles and McCartney fan, I am incredibly proud of the set he performed last night. I also feel somewhat sad, given that we are inevitably coming towards the end of his career (even geniuses can’t carry on forever). The greatest songwriter of my lifetime, whose songs have punctuated and decorated my life. I feel honoured to have been around at the same time.
Not bad mate. Seen haim and Jack white. Couple saying about it being an indie/rock festival. Since the 90s it's had a dance village and has a mobo type stage, west Holts. Seen acts like Bobby womack, chic, Janelle monaie there. Saw George Clinton once with snoop dog, remembered thinking bet BBC don't cover this and should, just as George lit the biggest spliff I've ever seen and launched into a song called "skunk". Remember thinking I'd answered my own question there.
