At the end of the QnA I got a minute to speak with Neerav. Out of superstition I said to him when we appointed Stendel I had a photo with him and obviously that was the reason we were promoted that season. So I said in the absence of a manager he would have to make do in the photo haha. Then I said, pretty sure Stendels football would be popular at Oakwell again, and asked if he was on the 5 person shortlist. He said 'Oooh I couldn't possibly say' with a little grin that sorta made me think he could be on the list. Or maybe he's not.. I wouldn't be against it for sure, as long as we have the players to play that high press style again.
Outstanding point. I was wondering why they hadn’t - seemed bizarre. This would make total sense due to the professional association between Sky and TS.
From the Chronicle: On the managerial search in general, El Ahmad added: “There are three buckets. One is very experienced, one is up and coming with not much experience and the other is what I call a solid candidate with some seasons behind them. We want a manager who wants to come to Barnsley. It has to be the right fit.”
For armchair detectives there are certainly enough clues to strongly link warnock. I can’t see him coming in as a head coach and working with players signed by James Cryne though which is the approach they are going back to.
It's not though is it? And that has never been 'the approach'. We use data to help identify players, the same as every club in the country. James Cryne's field is analysing data, so he helps in that regard in terms of creating algorithms to analyse the data. The manager does and always has had input into the signings and that's not going to change.
Kevin Betsy? Current Arsenal u23 manager and very highly rated. I read a recent article which likened him to Steve Cooper and said he was being looked at by a number of league sides.
