ACADEMY TRIO SIGN NEW DEALS Club News David Bremang, Jordan Helliwell and Charlie Winfield extend Oakwell stays Barnsley Football Club is delighted to announce the extension of three contracts from within our academy set-up. Continue reading on the official site...
..... key bit of critical info missing. How long have they extended their stays for? Given it's not mentioned, I'd assume a short length of time, maybe one season? Would be nice not to have to guess mind.
Why the secrecy over the length of the deals? I can't remember a time we've ever announced someone signing a new contract without the length of it being mentioned.
Are these the only academy players who we've kept? I'm sure someone posted that basically the entire squad had been released
No Non of them were academy (u18 players last season) Bremengs apart from the group that Tomas Sraha came from in the summer. Was at Cov last season. Winfield was a first year pro last season. He was the star from the Danish club when they were over at Ejberg of our loans. Heliwell was the one that went across and came back. Home Sick I think they said. Also a first year pro I think last season.
They weren't part of the u18s last season. Bremeng was never part of the academy. Others first year pros last season.
I didn't ask if they were part of the u18s last season. You just randomly chose to ramble on about that for no reason. Bremang is an academy player, all three are.
If that's officially the case, why couldn't that be included in the headline or the first paragraph? It just seems a very odd thing to omit. I've no issue with the players being offered one year deals, makes sense given the players and the clubs situation. But given we offered Marsh longer terms... who is younger than Helliwell and Winfield, and we offered Wolfe longer terms, who is younger than Bremang, it would just be nice to officially know what the deals are.
Yet not on the official website. Surely official communications from the club should be the most accurate, no?
Frankly, that's irrelevant. If the club are going to put any information into the public domain, surely it should be accurate and complete. That's the whole basic point of communications.
In the scheme of things. This issue is way down the list. imho. If it was senior pro's I may have agreed with you. They haven't kept the contracts under wrap. As someone thought. It's obviously been passed on to the media yesterday or even before, as player interviews had taken place. The most interesting articles covers Bobby Hassels opinions of players and experience needs.
One or more of them may end up being first team regulars next season. It shouldn't matter what level a player is to give accurate information about them. Seems somewhere between disrespectful and careless. But just another example of below par standards.
I have been one of their biggest critics over communication on here/other avenues and in their presence. This one doesn't bother me one iota. Not enough to complain. Disrespectful is a bit ott for me. Careless maybe. But not enough to get wound up about.
