At the risk of boring people - just wanted to let you know what’s going on, as there may be some stuff that could benefit folks on here. It was great to see a couple of BBSers at our recent Walking Cricket event - we have another coming up at 10am on 24 May (free). Our Mental Health Project is 4 weeks in, and going well. Not too late to join. (Young adults with mental ill health / anxiety) The project is about being outdoors - so we’ve been playing Crown Green Bowls, football, gardening and planning a Sensory Garden to be installed over the next few months. We are working with other local agencies (e.g. the Special Schools and Men in Sheds) to design this. The participants have also designed an Orienteering Course which is available free of charge - should keep kids occupied / entertained for a good half an hour whilst getting some exercise. Outdoor Table Tennis available free of charge. A new Padel Court (cross between Tennis and Squash) is being planned - if all goes well, should be installed this summer. New drop in to support older, isolated people. Thursdays 1pm-3pm starting in June - Board Games, Bingo, Card games, slow paced exercise, Coffee, company and chat. £2 (or whatever can afford) to cover refreshments. Also in discussion re Disability Football sessions, Walking Football (men and women) If any of this is of interest, get in touch. Most things are funded so low cost or free, via the Charity. There are also all the opportunities provided by the individual sports clubs (Rugby, Cricket, Squash, Athhletics, Karate, Archery), and there is a Bereavement service on site. if you haven’t been up to Shaw Lane for a year or two, you may be surprised with what’s available.
