Breaking News: New Board of Directors at Oakwell Barnsley Football Club Supporters' Trust welcome today's announcement of a reconstitution of the Club’s board of directors, following changes in ownership at its parent company, BFC Investment Company Limited (BFC). After one of the most disappointing seasons in our history, where relationships between the football club and its supporters were broken and at their lowest ebb for decades, we view the removal of Paul Conway, Chien Lee, and Grace Hung from the board of directors as a positive step and one that can be greeted warmly by the Barnsley FC fan base. Reconnecting with supporters and the town can only be helped by Jean Cryne joining the board, to support James Cryne and the other directors, in ensuring our future is at Oakwell and that we build a clear strategy that results in establishing ourselves as a Championship football club once again. Having passion for the town, its people, and the role the club plays within that, is something we believe has been lacking recently at board level, and we look forward to welcoming Julie Ann Quay to Barnsley to immerse her in our famous community spirit and welcome. Challenges are still on the immediate horizon, in terms of the recruitment of a new Head Coach and the club finances post relegation, however BFCST are fully behind the new regime, look forward to working with them in the future, and hope this is one of many steps to bring this great football club back to those who matter the most. The supporters. We'd like to extend our thanks to the current directors of Barnsley Football Club for keeping the lines of communication open over the last six months. Many questions still remain, and we're hopeful these will be answered at the Press Conference on 27th May. More thoughts on this announcement will be provided at our AGM on Tuesday 17th May at The Garrison in Barnsley. Free tickets can be claimed here with all supporters welcome to join BFCST on the night. You Reds
So let's clarify. Chien Lee and Conway are completely and totally gone and no longer anything to do with the club?
No. As far as I understand, they're still majority shareholders, but James Cryne, Neerav Parekh and Jean Cryne are the board now. Presumably in charge of decision making.
They have been voted off the board of directors so have no say in the day to day running of the football club as of today. Chien Lee still owns a share. I would guess questions like this will be answered in more detail at the Press Conference on 27th May.
I didn't see that coming. Call me stupid, but can anyone confirm who the owners are going forward? Are they the Board minus Khaled/Zuk... or someone else?
I am quite stunned in all honesty. Does this mean no more Paul Conway transfer windows? Positive news though in all seriousness.
I think we need to be a bit cautious. We certainly seem to be in a better position this afternoon then we were this morning, but again the question remains, who actually owns the club and what kind of mischief could they get up to?
Well done Ben for keeping your head while while all around others were losing there's. As Gary Barlow said" Need a little patience".
Question number one can be why are they all so secretive about who owns us? Second question can be why did they make out Conman etc were part owners when it appears they actually were not?
Does this mean we might get or keep experienced players instead of having to go for kids all the time?
Still kids is my guess. Same as usual, 'cept younger. This is from our new lady's website: "The mission has always been to connect, empower, and amplify global youth. VFILES has incubated countless emerging talents and amplified their voices and works, which may otherwise have not been heard, at maximum volume. "
Unless I have missed it, it would be nice if the club posted an update about the litigation that has been going on. Is that now over? I am skeptical about us moving to sunny uplands while there’s a court case on…
Given it should now be obvious our "billionaires" didn't even get close to such a moniker, it's highly likely many of those clubs are funded and owned in a similar manner. Investors ousting a board is a pretty big deal in such circles and though it may not feel like it, will have a huge knock on impact with their reputation.
