When I've just witness a 77 year old Debbie Harry do a 90 minute set without coming up for air. Granted, she can't hit the high notes anymore, but Romal Palmer can't find a red shirt and he's 50 years younger.
Blimey! I first saw Debbie Harry at Sheffield City Hall in 1977 (I think!). Blondie were the opening act to a band called Television.
I was totally unimpressed with Television. Blondie, on the other hand, were the stuff of a teenager's dreams.
Debbie Harry, ah…brings back good memories. Never forget seeing her appear for the first time on Top of the Pops singing Denis. Talk of the school next day for every teenage lad.
Did you enjoy the gig Archey? Our son was there too, interesting that Johnny Marr was support too. Squeeze are on tour in the winter, with John Cooper Clarke as support. I sometimes think about going to see these bands I liked in the 70s and 80s,but then remember how old I am and how old they will be, and stick the music on instead. I am hoping to see Martin Carthy, this month in Barnsley, possibly last chance to do so.
Having seen Glen Tilbrook, solo, a couple of years ago, I would definitely encourage you to go and see Squeeze if you get chance.
