I can only say from personal experience, and I know there will have been variations in severity in individual cases, but he came out of ICU practically skipping and looking in fine fettle. My missus was incredibly frail and though she's come a long way in the last couple of weeks, she still gets tired very quickly. I suspected at the time it may have been over egged how ill he was, that perception has only been strengthened since.
It shows you how bad things are when you'd take bell end dropper (yes, seriously, he dropped the end of a bell while clanging for a PR stunt!) Jeremy Hunt as a replacement without much question. But it is slim pickings. Tom Tugendhat is perhaps the more honourable, but I'm sure you could look through his back catalogue of voting and find something pretty horrible in there. But you're right, the excuses to not change are borne of self preservation and nothing else. What I do find really dismaying is how the media are covering this. The style of opposing any interviewee is hugely dangerous and legitimises any point of view, however ridiculous or nasty it may be. A tory MP sits, they dig a bit, a labour MP sits to be questioned, they oppose them rather than focus on the issue and in doing so trivialise the point in question and at times, even defend the wrongdoing. That can't be right.
Everything Johnson does or says is about him saving himself and remaining in power. You cannot trust that anything he comes up with is for our, the UK's or anybody else's benefit. He's just a filthy liar.
Thanks very much, very much appreciated. Not to derail things or create too big a tangent, but she's doing really well considering. We went for a walk at the weekend and she managed pretty well with just a couple of stops, though she went to bed for 2 hours when we got back. Then sunday we did some gardening, and likewise, she needed a lie down for a bit after wearing herself out. But she's not woe is me and getting her confidence back. Again, thanks for your kind thoughts and words.
Theresa May is probably still the best candidate in the party! (arguably in the 5 worst of all time) - although Hunt or Tugenhat from the back benches or Wallace from the Cabinet might be decent shouts. The whole Ukraine excuse only works if the PM and cabinet are going against the wishes of the Parliamentary party - surely they'd just carry on as before until the crisis was over with the added bonus of less lies and maybe actually being more competent...
Glad to hear it. I caught it last week, and for "just a cold" its hit me quite hard and I'm still not near 100% so I really wouldn't like to get the full blown version or wish it on anyone.
It's no wonder so many of us feel politically homeless. Boris and his pals cannot stick to the rules. The opposition like Kinnock and Starmer were caught breaking rules as well so they have no room to talk. We can't trust politicians no matter what party they are.
I have to say, I feel really guilty as it hardly affected me at all. I got it in my sinuses but it was just a bit of a chore and was just a case of sudafed consumption as I waited for a negative test (which took almost 2 weeks). Hopefully you're ok and it's not adversely affecting you.
Starmer had some food and a drink while campaigning. The police haven't investigated. He didn't break the rules and he didn't make the rules in the first place. Johnson made the rules. Broke the rules (soon to be proven multiple times). Lied to parliament he'd broken the rules. Pretended he didn't know what rules he'd broken. Lied some more that he'd broken the rules. Had his team take the brunt for his failures. Lie some more about breaking the rules. Was shown to have broken the rules and fined... and now refuses to go, probably until the May elections when the tories fear they'll lose their seats and pretend to have a moral compass. Maybe read some other media outlets for balance.
Comparing Starmer having a drink with his dinner with 50 FPN being issued by the Police is whataboutterry on the grandest scale. Sadly, it cuts through.
This is the thing people are overlooking, when talking about parking tickets and other 'what about' moments. He's committed an offence that has been stated to be a resigning matter, and he's done it several times. And we have a system that lets him.
There’s no wonder some people feel politically homeless when they can’t tell the difference between those events. critical thinking should be on the increase with the rise in the number university educated, but it genuinely appears my dads generation who left school at 14 were smarter than the average graduate. I genuinely despair.
