Oh I agree he's deluded We got 10k this season off the back of our 4th best season ever (Premier League, automatic promotion to the Premier League, losing in the play off final, losing in the play off semi finals) with a feel good factor of what might be and fans being allowed back in the ground. To think after a season of *****, demotion in opposition quality from relegation and how much the owners are hated we will get more in the ground when they have increased the price to get in then of course he's deluded.
Just renewed this afternoon. I was losing the will to live with it as kept logging in, selecting season ticket, and being asked to pick a seat. Then I realised you just had to 'tick' the name in your group that you want to renew, which is my own.
I've gone for the no circumstances option as the closest fit. Repaying the £750k and committing to not paying the £2.75m from club funds is my start point, and there's zero chance of this happening, it seems.
No and won't for the foreseeable future, as the club doesn't seem to be aware (or interested) of the issues upsetting a good number of longstanding supporters.
It's this that I find most incredible you know. The CEO admits he's had hundreds of pieces of correspondence which seems to be pretty negative. We actively chose to lose long standing supporters over the West Stand closure. The CEO is aware the owners aren't seen in a good light and we've had one of our worst seasons on the pitch in a good while playing an insipid defensive style. There have been some major own goal comments from him and some of his statements and this place, if no other, has been openly critical, though generally fair and reasoned with its assessments. Yet for all that, the tone of language is over egged and seems to ignore the fundamental issues, let alone have a plan to rectify them.
We all keep saying it don't we? Yes we always see a drop off when we have been relegated. But it's the ones who are walking away. Long term fans who would renew regardless are simply turning their backs. The CEO saying he can't understand why is very poor. It's all well and good saying we need to separate the two (owners and those running the club day to day) but in practice that isn't possible. The staff will all move on in time and we the fans will be left with these owners.
My position exactly. I haven’t worked out my cost per game for this season as I don’t want to upset myself further.
I would have loved for my seat to have been in the west stand as I'd have loved the opportunity to get a full refund!
I’ve liked that but obviously I don’t like it. If that makes sense. That they’ve done that to a supporter such as yourself is mind boggling. If I didn’t have my lad who still wanted so desperately to go, I may have joined you (but in all honesty I probably would have relented regardless). Please carry on supporting the team, and posting on here, in your absence though.
Thank you for your kind comments, mate, they're much appreciated. I'll certainly continue to post comments on here. However, if I don't watch a performance, I won't pass comment on it. It is not my intention to try to influence or argue against anyone who thinks differently to me with regards to purchasing a season ticket for the next campaign. I have the utmost respect for anyone, like your good self, who'll be buying them. The club have had a good number of relegation seasons in the decades I've been a season ticket holder, so bad as it's been another one is hardly out of the ordinary. I have seen & heard nothing to convince me from the owners that they're 100% committed to Barnsley Football Club, or making decisions that can truly be seen by all they're fully focused on improving every aspect of the club. I always have and always will love our club. Unfortunately, I see no other action available to me that will show my dissatisfaction at the owners.
I tell you what, why don't we arrange a few get togethers at 3pm on a Saturday afternoon? A few pints and we can talk about the good old days. I'm sure a fair few would welcome that. I'll get the first round in.
counting Freebies isn’t really a financial plan is it? From the CE he is looking to sell 11k season tickets not give them away. We can’t budget with money we aren’t receiving unless I’m missing something.
I do not believe we give any tickets away these days like we did about ten years ago for the under 12"s , I believe all juniors under 14 are now charged £10 under the early bird scheme which to be fair is brilliant but they are not free , last year we sold in total 11000 including the juniors & I believe that is the equivilant he was equating to , so if juniors were counted last year they should not be disregarded this season ,however I believe he is in for a rude awakening when sales are completed by the end of August unless he believes in the tooth fairy .
Definitely looking a more even split now. If this site is an indicator of the fan base generally (and I doubt it is), then they’ll do well to shift 5-6k
