Interesting article. Sounds like We’re working on Wolfe’s contract now. But I wonder if he’s suggesting that Victor and Palmer might not be offered new deals?

Apparently some of the loanees have buyout clauses, not just Vita… don’t think we’d have any chance with Quina but I hope we at least give it a go to get Bassi! 90% sure he wouldn’t sign but we should try.

Imagine being a fringe player, in the squad tomorrow, knowing that the club haven't been in touch but you read this? How would you feel?

    "Continue to be sustainable"

I don't think finance is his strong point.

I had to check that and read it in full as I thought you may be paraphrasing! But nope - he actually says it! He doesn't help himself does he? Last night I was saying we should give him a break and saying i felt sorry for him. But clangers like that really don't do him any favours.

Yeah someone will offer him 15 to 20k a week four year contract and get a bargain with no fee involved.

Isn't that just relating to the out of contract players?

If we have 7 players who could attract a substantial bid from Championship clubs, or their equivalent (and I believe we have), this just illustrates how appallingly badly the club has been managed this year.

Yes. But they are still under contract now and usually on the bench

We might be talking to Adeboyejo and Palmer, as well as Wolfe.

Players we're not talking to could be players like Miller, who probably don't want to talk to us anyway.

Edit - On top of this. If a player's contract is expiring in the summer, and the club haven't been speaking with them about a new one, whatever league we're in. I don't think these quotes would come as a surprise anyway. Maybe he should've said "there are players we really rate but we just haven't bothered to talk to them about a new contract"

We have Collins, Helik, Andersen, Brittain, Styles, Woodrow and Morris

So, a goalkeeper, two centre backs, a right wing back, two centre forwards and someone that had played all bar a handful of his first team games at wing back before the season started, and has since played both wing back roles and now settled into almost a right mid position.

Gaping hole in midfield that we never addressed in August or January.

Similarly, if you look at the players that were 25 or over when the season started, it was Helik, Woodrow, Morris, Frieser, Oulare and Cole.

A completely inbalanced squad, thrown together by an incompetent. If I were a head coach and got the phone call from BFC, the first question I'd ask is who is leading the player recruitment in the summer. If the response starts with a P sound, I'd hang up straight away, before they even get the chance to say his full name.

Don’t think it matters much now to be fair. They’ve still got to put themselves in the shop window for another club. Let’s hope we’re clearing out any dead wood. Really hope Wolfe signs though. Looking like a top prospect.

I would hope that any players we dont want to keep we already spoke to rather than them read it in the paper
but as said above if you are a player and your contract expires this summer and the club havent talked to you at this stage its fairly clear where you stand in fact by Christmas you should have some idea

If they’re on the fringes of this awful side then they deserve to go. We’re in the position we are for a reason

Being charitable for a moment, they could well already have been told that there won't be a negotiation and they're free to leave.

Genuinely - the majority of players will know what they’re doing next season, or at least what they want to do.

Majority of them have agents too.

You don’t have talks with players you don’t want/or don’t want to stay in this respect - but they will be notified or be aware of the scenario. And some we’re not in talks with maybe because of their position not to too.

Good players rarely move last minute - their move is often 6-12months already planned.

This is how it works. And generally players/agents already know.

I.e. Mowatt knew last season he wasn’t signing unless we were Prem.

I wouldn’t even put palmer in the squad never mind offer him a new deal.

I do think that the return of Kane , Aitcheson & Ackroyd will add a bit of balance to the midfield but I agree with your other points
