Has anyone else seen this story? Competing at a college level event in the US.
I only noticed it as Sharron Davies was Tweeting about it.
Apparently it's caused a bit of a stir and opens up some tough questions about how we accommodate biological males in sport.
Apparently they got the lady who finished fourth up onto the podium for this picture and booing was heard in the arena when the winner was presented.

I think that's part.of the problem currently many in the press and media will be too afraid to actually have the discussion for fear of the consequences.

On the one hand I celebrate inclusivity and hate to exclude or discriminate, but on the other hand male puberty grants physical advantages that can't be ignored. It's difficult, and one of those issues which probably doesn't have a wholly satisfactory answer.

Can I just ask, where this image was published?

It's pretty noticeable that there is a significant stagger on the podium and that the group are huddled, bent legged and bobbing forward.

I'm sure there is a height difference, but the picture I suspect, is intended to exaggerate that to its maximum.

I also think this is extremely unhelpful in the courts of opinion that its being judged. Let science make its findings.

It's simple all that needs to happen is two extra categories are added to events where Men and Women compete separately one for transgender men and one for transgender women it's not fair to ask female from birth athletes to compete against transgender athletes who went through puberty as males because it puts them at an immediate disadvantage.

Just saw it on Twitter. I think they stood on the podiums correctly then afterwards the 2nd a 3rd place invited the 4th place up.

Was the booing for the 4th place person? Or aimed at the winner?

I have absolutely any problem with anybody who wants to transgender or whatever, but this is clearly wrong.
TBH if I was her I would be too embarrassed to accept the prize or even compete, its clearly unfair with the advantage she has.
Look at when the Russians were bulking up women athletes , there were loads of complaints about unfairness then.
Now this is a totally different thing done for different reasons, but I think anyone doing this should acknowledge competitive sport is a no no.

There wouldn't have been a problem if she'd lost the semi.

Don't the hormone treatments cause problems for drug testing ?
Sport for me should be based on birth gender alone

The science is clear and obvious - Lia should not be competing against biological females. It's completely unfair and once again it's women suffering. And I say this as fully paid-up member of the liberal loony left, as we get called

There an interesting court case ongoing as sex doesn’t have protected character status in the states as it does here.
A US company has sacked someone in the U.K. for refusing to toe the line and just accept ‘woman’ to mean anyone who describes themselves as such. The case is interesting reading, trans people have protection under the law, but don’t have the right to insist everyone pretend that sex isn’t real.

As for Lia, a ‘woman’ who proudly flashes her dick in the changing rooms shouldn’t be taken seriously by anyone.

I’m all for people being allowed to live any way they want, but when they insist on insisting the rest of us have to conform to their fantasies, that’s pushing at what should be ‘acceptable’.

How can anyone live the way they want if the rest of us don't accept the way they want to live?
