My brother reckons there aren't many pubs that are 'away friendly' in Huddersfield. And whilst we won't go looking for trouble, I'd feel more comfortable going somewhere where other reds have had a good experience. Any recommendations? I'd like to go to Magic Rock, but one of the lads doesn't have taste buds.
Just get him the Dancing Bier Lager. Simple enough and not as challenging as the rest of the stuff they do. You'll also be able to get Fish and Chips from the 'Hip Hop Chip Shop'.
Magic Rock have some less eperimantal stuff too. Just go for it, nice place to go to regardless of football!
Depends on your route. If you're going on the train go past the Harold Wilson statue and turn right on to John William Street straight to the bottom where McDonald's is and down the left towards Cross Church Street. On there go to Carousel then down King Street where the Kingsgate Centre is to Lord Wilson, Warehouse and Brew Dog. Then finish at Aspley.
The Grove, Rat and Ratchet and Sportsman (albeit never been in on a match day) are all great. I doubt you'll want/need to go anywhere else before the game and everywhere else should be fine after.
I can't believe I forgot about the new BrewDog bar! @Archey - if you go there your mate can get on the Lost Lagers and I might be able to help you out on a cheaper pint!
Brilliant venue and one of many great additions to the town centre. It's always been a great town for drinking just a bit rougher than Barnsley is.
Also at full time as it opens at 5 pm check out here which isn't far from the stadium... https://barnisworld.com/ Harpreet from The Apprentice owns it. She's smashing the show as she's won all four weeks and last week was team leader.
Thanks all for the replies, I'll have a look this evening and put something to my mate. @Loko the Tyke I think we'll be giving Brewdog a wide berth too. I got him to try lost lager once (and Elvis Juice) and he didn't like it. He's just very anti craft beer.
Lost Lager is a completely different taste profile now. Much more accessible and the fastest growing lager in the UK. Sales pitch over. Good representation of the challenges we face though.
What time you off Archey? Me n r lass getting train around 9. Glad you made this post cos I’ve forgot where all boozers are. Usually go to Brighouse when we play Hudds
Last visit we had . We got off the train at Lockwood. Then caught a taxi to the ground. Not sure if the pubs are still open though. Any advice ?. Two of us with a 16 year old so don't fancy the town.
Meeting Jordan in Bramah's about 11. Think we're getting into Huddersfield about half 12 now as our young un can't make it out any earlier.
My tastes change all the time, but I was quite looking forward to a pint of Salty Kiss from Magic Rock. I'm quite partial to a sour beer.
Great beer - sometimes a bit too 'yoghurty' for me.The OverWorks sours from BrewDog are top notch as well. The Magic Rock place is a good one pre-match. Their lager is challenging though compared to Lost.
