Genuinely, when fit, I’d stick Halme in holding midfield with Hondermarck and this new lad Bassi. Need to get Styles out of central mid.

Agree, though I'd suggest adding a left back might have been quite important too, unless Vita is now going to get a run. These loans would have been infinitely more useful if they'd arrived a couple of weeks ago too.

Seems to confirm that we will be more likely to be playing a 3-5-2, or 5-3-2 formation, for which more midfielders will be needed in comparison with 3-4-3, or 4-3-3. I know we can revert if necessary, but we needed two more strikers and two less midfielders for Ismael's 3-4-3, so Morris and Dike came in and Kane and Thomas left. Now we need two strikers less in the squad, so Frieser and Miller have left, but we need two more midfielders, so Bassi and Quina have come in. As long as we don't go all Spackman and try to sign every spare midfielder in the league, i am happy with this adjustment. Attacking and goalscoring midfielders will have to be the way forward with a five-man midfield. Let's hope it works and we get some wins on the board, but we need a run of wins really to boost lagging confidence. Let's hope this starts with Cardiff on Wednesday. Not easy to break them down, but it's a game we should feel that we have a chance of winning.

The problem I have is that we still have a huge squad that we're paying for. Even if we've sent players out on loan, we are still contributing to their salaries to some degree.

When you tot them all up...

We are paying Woodrow, Morris, Iseka, Adeboyejo, Cole, Oulare, Schmidt, Aitchison, Miller and now add Bremang and Thompson who are flirting with the first team squad. That's 11. You could add Oduor, maybe Marsh and maybe Thomas if you played a front 3.

We're also paying Palmer, Gomes, Hondermarck, Wolfe, Christie-Davies, Styles, Benson, Kane, Bassi and Quina. That's another 10 players.

Thats 24 players to pick a midfield and a front line from with a few options on the bench.

    It's insane.

When you look at it in black and white, we do have massively bloated squad that is lacking in talent and/or experience.

Well we now have 2 "attacking midfielders" which is 2 more than we had last week. Hopefully they can provide the ammunition for Morris and Cole to pull the trigger.
Styles can now go left back and shore up that side of the field.
Although the window wasn't great, at least it is a positive step and could be the impetus the squad needs to have a go from now on-we have literally nothing to lose

I thought we needed a left back but was presuming Vita now would be getting a chance.

Always puzzled me why we have to wait 30 days and 18 hours into a 31 day transfer window before making a signing when we needed these players 30 days and 18 hours ago.

Probably waiting until other clubs are desperate to farm players out with cheaper loan fees etc.

Said similar in the Bassi announcement thread but let’s hope he at least adds some excitement to our games. We’re doomed but if we can go down fighting and being somewhat entertaining, that’ll do at this stage I guess.

Might as well give it a go and cheer us up, even if we do go down.
